i think byrd could get in at a dash. outside of wlad he was the most dominant heavy for 8 years easy. fought a fantastic list of fighters and beat a ton of them aswell. even though old (holy) or overestimated (golota) and looked bad against oquendo and mccline.

it will have to be a very weak year though.

he was arguably the man to beat before wlad II happend. longest reigning
champ at the time before wlad bowled him over.

His win over Vitali doesn't count for anything. Vitali destroyed him with 1 hand and received the injury himself and it turned out to be too terrible to fight with.

This alone makes me a big fan of him. He had big cajones to juke and jive like greased lightning in there with the big guys. And, unlike fellow runt Pacquiao, he was woefully underpowered.
