Can't really make a decision on that here, the beating he took was serious but I've seen worse. I'm just waiting for his next fight and hoping that won't be the case at all. If I have to make a prediction then I see him coming back the same and trying his best to avenge that loss as soon as possible.
It is premature to say he's not at there level, but I think Gassing out is one of the things Cotto needs to improve for his rematch against Margo if it happens, he just can't afford anything like that against a guy like Margo, maybe he can afford it against Mosely, but not Margo :nono
Rest assured that Cotto will come back better than he ever was. Both Margo and Cotto are warriors, it just so happened that Margo was the better man on fight nite, mainly due to a shitty strategy, but it's a lesson learned, albeit a painful one.
I fully expect Cotto to come back very much the same fighter, but stylistically I expect him to lean heavily on his body destroying in neutral situations where he might have the opportunity to box, and go back to what got him on top.
I hope Cotto comes back the same, showed alot of character in the Margartio fight. He showed outstanding abillity that night, just a great fighter in general.
I dont think people are going to say he is a SHOT fighter- But he certainly will be a different fighter with a different mindset- Who knows- maybe this loss will be a wakeup call for him. Maybe he will start calling out names instead of having fighters placed in front of him- thinking he has to prove something. Or perhaps it will diminish his self confidense. You know... following the lineages and whatnot ( margo lost to williams... does that mean I'll lose to williams?) Time will tell and that is what the boxing world as a whole is waiting to see
It was a devastating, humiliating loss for COTTO. And his performance, is that what you call tactical or tchnical skill people are talking about? His style of end to end OF the ring running is a way of buying time, it's not deserving of a WARRIOR. He's just highly overrated, plain and simple. that's the end of the line for him.:hat
Talyor just had one with JCC and was never the same not saying that Cotto will be like Talyor but we should wait and see.
Teeing off on Margarito is pretty much a standard thing, all his opponents seem to do that. Unfortunately for Cotto, he was less intelligent about the teeing off than guys like Lujan and Clottey - who were able to use greater timing and dexterity to move away after scoring. Whether or not Cotto has the actual mobility to be more evasive remains to be seen.
