Will Froch try to box from the outside like he did against AA?

Against Ward?

Im not sure what tactics he should use here. Ward is good on the inside and very sharp on the outside. Should Froch try and use his reach and jab and flurry like against AA and johnson or should he not take a step back and use his strength and power to break Ward for the late stoppage?

 

Carl needs to throw the jab regularly – twos and threes to keep Ward off-balance. He needs to step in with two-three shots to give Ward something to worry about. Andre isn’t a big puncher, but he hits hard enough and accurately enough to hurt Carl.

Ward actually isn’t that good on the inside – people have decided this because he lay on Green’s chest all night. His work was really pretty ineffective – he wasn’t hurting Green, just making him look bad.

But if he does get inside, Carl needs to work and not stay on the ropes.

Ward has more ways to win this than Froch, that’s the problem.

 

there needs to be an element of boxing to it. froch is actually quite awkward. allot of people dont realise how good he is defensivley.

 

I think that he should hit Ward in the face until he falls over and is counted out.

 

Everyone knows he's awkward. Doesn't mean he's any good defensively IMO.

 

He's the only top level fighter with a pronounced bow and arrow.

It doesn't matter what he does. Ward's far more talented than him.

 

Mate, he's really poor defensively.

 

Defense definately isn't Froch's strongest attribute, the amount of clean shots he was taking from Johnson was scary. A lesser chin would've seen him hitting the canvas on quite a few occasions.

 

It’s what will lose him the fight with Ward. He’s too prone to standing in front of his opponents, squaring up and dropping his hands while pot-shotting, Against Ward it might get messy.

 

Ward's bodywork will probably be key. Kessler took the wind out of Froch's sails so I expect SOG is going to concentrate on that.

 

Let's hope, like many others, Froch can overcome that gap.
