ITV now have lost all European Football will only have the FA Cup & England games after 2015 Rugby will be BT Sport F1 - Sky & BBC They have never been into cricket and that is a different market - not the tonight couple of hours they go for Athletics - not a big enough pull Surely they will want to keep Sports fans on board. Other than boxing I cannot think what they will do to fill the schedules.
The problem is that boxing typically takes place on a Saturday night and wouldn't draw the type of figures that a old Bond film would. That said, a series of fight nights on Thursdays on ITV4 replacing the Europa League would work done correctly. A promoter like Fearon or Goodwin would jump at this chance.
Problem is they'd be no fights available to show. Hearn with Sky, Frank with Boxnation and Hennessy with Channel 5. Outside of that lot they'd only have journeyman fights to show.
There was an article in The Independent bemoaning the lack of boxing on the main Channels. http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/...ics-like-carl-frochgeorge-groves-8961057.html At least it is starting to be realized outside the hardcore of Boxing fans, especially when something as special as last Saturday night's fight happens.
Who would want to go to ITV now? They pulled out on F.W., then did a deal with Hennessy, and then pulled out on him also. I mean what, if they win back the football rights in a few years, are they not going to screw over boxing again?
