Will Khan Ever Be Able To Handle Pressure Fighters?

He points out that although Kotelnik is not a pressure fighter he still managed to put pressure on Khan in the latter rounds of the fight. He seems to think that Khan will never be able to stand up to the likes of Maidana or even Prescott. It is a very negative take but is the writer correct in his thinking?

 

Probably yeah. I he improves his counter punching and gets a bit more power

 

He will struggle he only seems to throw straight flurries and he looked nerved up at times and curled up a few times under pressure i think a smart quick footed pressure fighter can get to him and test him.

 

Please remember that this was only Khan's second fight at 140 (if my memory serves me correctly he had a fight at 140 a few years back) and let's not forget that it was for a world title against a decent opponent in Kotelnik. His style, experience, decision making and conditioning all will improve measurably with more time with Roach. That said, we'll only find out the answer when he's faced with some pressure fighters with his new style. We shall see.

 

Khan didn't look fully comfortable on back foot which actually made his performance better that he found a way to win and adapted and stuck to it. He needs to have a few decent defences before fighting people like Maidana and Bradley etc because they will cause him alot of bother.

 

Power is the key here. If he can develop a bit more of a dig then there is no reason that he won't be able to handle pressure fighters...he has to be able to make them think twice about rushing in.

 

Khan was tired around round 11 to 12, if he thinks he can do what he done against Kolt to maybe a juan diaz, he best recognise!

 

power will come with maturity,more experience and extra strength.He'll learn when to use his speed and when to plant his feet and slow his work down. His speed is detrimental to power as he seems to pull his shots at times.
The kids just gunna get better with every fight imo.

 

i have not seen a khan opponenet really marked up ...apart from the head clash againt marco.....

 

He will never have the power or the chin. He's nothing more than a hype job at the moment IMO.

 

He has the tools to be elusive and to outland most fighters

Won't be the prettiest to watch but he could be mighty effective if Roach hones his style

So in short - yes. He has just moved up and won a title against a very creditable opponent.

 

Yeah didn't Barrera say that he wasn't hurt by Khan's punches or something like that? The only fight I can remember him really hurting an opponent was Willie Limmond.

 

I'm not sure about that.

 

Yeah he said he couldn't feel Khans punches and that's because he was throwing tippy tappy punches and moving away.

 

Why? He will outspeed most of them, 900+ punches on the back foot is a strange but effective style
