To me it seems that Team MP only wants to fight guys at catchweights or go to "possibly" 147....i'm sure floyd will demand 147....like he did hatton, when hatton was 140 lineal champ.....So why just vacate the belts if your not going to atleast do 1 defese of the lineal title?.....Does the 14O division mean anything to Manny? or is it all about politics and money?

At the point he is the HUGE fights are the only things that matter.
There is no JWW to make a HUGE fight to make defending the title worth it BUT I think a third JMM fight would be for the title at 140

    What belts?
He only has the IBO(which doesn't count much) beside the The Ring belt

Pac crushed 140lbs, They should just except peep's already assume he beat them all.
(Even tho true's don't believe that, There is zero demand to watch Pac fight the 140's)

Ortiz Vs. Bradley, will be big in 2010/2011
    (That is considering.....)

yeah i mainly mean the ring belt....you got some hungry guys at 140 bradley, holt, torres, ortiz, urango and somewhat kahn, and hatton in the picture.....lets these guys duke it out for the top spot at 140 if manny doesnt want to defend....since he will be retired at most in 2 years.

Bradley,Hatton and Witter are the top ranked JWWs so they would have to fight eachother and I don't see it.Bradley already beat Witter and Hatton and Witter won't fight.

Probably not as he may have 3 or less fights left in his career. Should he face PBF, Mosley or Cotto next doubtful he would fight again.

If JMM pulls off an upset then his fight with Manny will almost certainly be at 140 for the title. Other than that no.

thanks. sorry tho, my question wasn't too clear:

if manny gives up the ring and ibo belt but still calls himself 140lb fighter without fighting at 140, who gets/keep the lineal title?

He won't give up the titles if he still considers himself a 140 fighter.
And neither will The Ring strip him probably.

There could very well be a break in the lineage. If Manny doesn't fight at 140, then it'll be unsettled until there's a #1/#2 fight to re-establish it.

What would be weird is if there's a #1/#2 while Manny is still active, but fighting above 140. Not likely to happen, but would be a strange situation.
