Will GGG ever actually earn a shot? That's the real question.

I guess you're all happy for him to talk his way into the fight David Haye style.

GGG is not a star. He's popular on this board but the common sports fan has never heard of him and he doesn't generate PPVs or big gates. Right now he's a 31 year old paper-champ who is yet to step up to the highest level. Why would Martinez give him a shot? It makes him Martinez no extra money and if he exposes GGG everyone will say he was a hype job all along.

Once GGG has a decent win or two he can start talking about Sergio Martinez.

Money talks. Somehow GGG has managed to become a hypejob that generates no cash. If HBO wasn't desperate for stars he'd be f*cked.

Also, the only thing he's done to be the #2 MW is not lose to Sergio yet. His resume is dogsh*t.

I doubt it but i'd love to see it. Sergio isn't as helpless in this bout as many would have us believe.

I agree and a lot of people on this board needs to understand is that business comes first before boxing. GGG is a good fighter but he's not a draw at since nobody has ever heard of the guy escpeially by the casual boxing fan. I think Sergio will avoid him since the risk/award factor isn't worth it and he rather turn his attention to other opponents in the 154 since they bring in money and plus Sergio is looking to maximize his profits since he's getting up there in age.

I'd much rather see Floyd vs Martinez- 2 top P4P guys who are lineal champs in their respective divisions (Well FLoyd is actually the lineal champ at both WW and JMW.)

I'd love to see GGG take on Ward soon. Ward said he'd absolutely fight Golovkin so if GGG is this beast that everyone makes him out to be he should have no issue fighting Ward at 168 for his lineal title. A win over Ward (which I don't know if that would happen,) would catapult GGG into one of the top guys in the sport P4P. It should happen, they're both HBO fighters and the biggest names on the network aside from Pacman and JMM.

Don't lie to yourself. Martinez is not a star either. Martinez vs Macklin had 1.1 million viewers which is equal to GGG vs Macklin TV ratings. And that was GGG's third fight on HBO. How many years has Martinez been fighting on HBO?

Martinez is chasing boxers like Floyd, Cotto, Chavez Jr because he knows a fight with one of them is his only chance to get good ratings and money. So why would Floyd give him a shot? It makes Floyd no extra money and if he exposes Martinez everyone will say he was old and injured.

You're waiting for Godot. Martinez has been ducking Golovkin for years, and he won't stop now. He wants no part of that power-punching madman.

So you're trying to say that GGG has as big a name as Martinez now??? Did GGG f*ck up the incredibly popular Kelly Pavlik? Did he have a KO of the year vs previously iron chinned Williams? Did he dominate Chavez Jr in a big PPV event that was accompanied by a 24/7? Is he the ring's #1 MW, Lineal MW champ and top 10 P4P?

F*ck no. He's just a paper champ who beat Martin Murray coming off a loss.

Martinez is far more attractive to Floyd for all the reasons I just mentioned. He is a proven, lineal, P4P champ with a great resume and name recognition. At this point GGG is a hype job.
