Martinez of 5 or 6 years ago would school GGG. Unfortunately, Martinez is constantly declining (probably due to age.) GGG would probably stop Martinez now and Martinez would not make that much cash from the fight.
He's a titleholder and the recognised #1 (behind Champ Maravilla) by every respected ranking organisation. Guess you DKSAMW then? Totally dominated a guy who put Sergio down and gave him a battle for 11 rounds. Some people...
I think even prime Maravilla would not 'school' Golovkin. Perhaps he'd win, but it'd be a fight I would really loved to have seen. The faded Maravilla of 2014 I'm near certain will lose by TKO, but still... Like you say, the sticking point will be the $s. With only a few fights left Sergio wants to maximise his income. However there are two things that make this fight a real possibility. 1 Maravillas management have stated they intend to 'stay loyal to HBO'. 2 I believe HBO will put up big $s to give GGG the shot at the lineal, even as a loss leader if necessary. I also happen to feel Sergio has the kinda pride that would make him want to take on the young(ish) pretender, rather than be seen to have avoided the fight - though he's more than earned that right and his legacy is secure IMO.
S*xy Sergio took his soul. GGG fought a shell. Maybe the 31 year old paper champ should actually fight a live opponent on a win streak. You assume S*xy Sergio wouldn't toy with the inexperienced hype job GGG. If you hate assumptions so much, STFU. He's a 31 year old man and he's been brought along slower than Deontay Wilder. He's packing glass. His handlers know it and you will too when he steps up. S*xy Sergio is the total package. ATG boxing and modelling skills. Accept it.
Cotto is the best bet for Sergio's next fight if Miguel can take out Delvin in his next fight. Martinez is a small middle and fits the PPV bill nicely.Arum is a very smart man and knows what sells.
