Yeah, all that lying on the ground not moving really made it seem like he wanted to continue. Williams shouldn't waste his time rematching this hasbeen. Kermit has a history of bitching and this is one of them. All this "the doctors took it away from me, I'm going to retire" stuff is just bluster. I say let him retire, we certainly don't need more bull**** like that in high profile fights embarassing the sport.
I can't believe people are saying it was a dive. The ropes weren't tied together and there's no way he could have known. I've just read that the ringside Doctors wanted to keep Cintron on the floor as they thought he may have had a punctured lung; he wanted to get up and they didn't let him. It was a complete farce, but I'm certain it wasn't an attempt on Cintron's part to get the fight stopped. Goossen has mentioned a rematch and, as Martinez is tied up and Williams probably won't get a fight with either Pacquiao or PBF - why would he, he isn't exactly a huge draw outside of the hardcore fanbase and I can't see any PPV or stadium selling out on his reputation alone - I can only see a Berto fight or a rematch with Cintron as the only possibilities for Williams' next bout. Maybe Cotto is an outside bet if he beats Foreman:think. I'm really disappointed, though. Williams is one of the fighters I always go out of my way to watch and he looked terrible last night- his performance reminded me of the first Quintana fight, actually. Just as the fight got going, Cintron has a freak accidentatsch. Boxing, you gotta love it.
[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UcBmevaBfhQ[/ame] The first angle looks like he propelled himself with his left leg, and almost guides himself through and out of the ring, whilst the second looks more as if their legs got caught up and out he went. It does seem weird how he didn't try to position his body to attempt to stay in there, albeit in a split second, it's not as if he was out cold like Rahman was against Maskaev. To accuse him of cheating is probably a bit strong, but he certainly made the most of his predicament in a bid to either escape with a no-contest or a DQ win.
A cure for insomnia has been found! As for Cintron wanting to continue...:nuthe didn't even attempt to move a muscle unless he was paralyzed god forbid you'd automatically try to even adjust yourself.
i think he was playing on it then it back fired cause the doctors wouldnt let him continue but whatever the case it was just **** all around.
I don't understand why it went to the scorecards and they originally wanted it to be a no contest. Cintron fell out the ring and couldn't continue. That's too bad but he should lose by TKO. Remember McCline against Valuev? He hurt his leg and couldn't continue but they didn't go to the scorecards/call it a no-contest. Valuev won. If they're not going to call it a TKO they should explain why. For example "As a result of a cut caused by an accidental clash of heads Cintron cannot continue so we go to the scorecards.
the thing is why would he take a dive , he had just rocked pwilly and was well in the fight and why dis the ropes come apart like that the should be tied underneathe where the banners were and yes the ed of the fight was a face that was a no contest if i have ever seen one
That was truly bizarre, I dont think Cintron faked it to be fair, the ropes shouldnt just split like that. Should have been a NC, and then the farcical circumstances continued with one giving every round to Cintron and one every round to Williams! Think it was just starting to heat up aswell, so a shame, especially when you're ****ing knackered and staying up for it.
Unfortunate set of circumstances...Cintron was winning but the heat was turning up so it's a real shame it ended that way. Like i said earlier in the week, Paul is on a kamikaze mission, he sits in the booth and throws punches giving up all his advantages. Unless he changes his ways he's a disaster waiting to happen.
I think Citron knew he was going to get beat...:yep He should have gone out on his sheild as opposed to flying through the ropes trying for an Oscar...
