Man please, a few boneheads on an internet postboard doesn't amount to "people are talking negative about him"

You need to realize, this is ESB where people just have their favorites. He is not well-liked here, but that doesn't mean people all over the boxing community are talking **** about him.

    Random Lou diBella statements.

"And, by the way, he is a middleweight now because he's bulked his body up."
I would love to see [ex-world champion] Antonio Margarito for him.
[First dBella said Martinez is now a true middleweight, and then says he wants him to fight disgraced welterweight Antonio Margarito!]

"Honestly, that [Paul Williams] wouldn't be my first choice. But like I said, I'm sitting here and I have to explain to my fighter why he has to fight that's going to be World War III after fighting World War I, and, World War II [against Paul Williams and Kelly Pavlik] in HBO fights. "

"How can he have to fight Paul Williams and Kelly Pavlik and then not be given the respect that he deserves? And by the way, you don't have any leverage when the network only gives you one choice of an opponent."

All of this came after 39 year old welterweight Shane Mosely turned Martinez down.

i can't knock team williams if they want to get in on this $$ that can be had a ww but then the cintron fight is at 154 despite cintron saying he'd fight at 147. the mw division is one of boxing's truly historic blue ribbon divisions. everyone wants to talk legacy and how williams needs to pick a weight, settle in and start building a legacy. well winning the undisputed mw title aint a bad way to start building a legacy. if he thinks he can duplicate or improve on his first performance against martinez then this needs to happen.

on the flip side of that coin, should he win the mw title he can kiss whatever chance he had (if any) of getting a 8 figure fight w/ pac or pbf goodbye since neither would risk moving up to mw to fight williams and williams would be tied up at mw for a while should he win (inevitable rematch clause...not wanting to vacate to move down, etc.).

i see the rock and the hard place he's in the middle of...but damn the mw title is something special. he should go for it.

Martinez rocked Paul pretty good in the first round. I think that opened his eyes to where he should be weight wise.

Suddenly a 50/50 co-promotion with a decent challenger will be a 'stupid' proposition and he'll call out Pavlik demanding a 95/5 split and calling Kelly a ducker for refusing.

Yea right Williams does not want this. Martinez will beat him even worse and i actaully saw some caution in PW in the Cintron fight. It could be a sign of him starting to feel the punches which is just a bad sign for a fighter in his style.

Well -- what the hell happens to Chavez's #1 WBC ranking at 160 if he fights Cotto at 154? As of right now Junior is the next mandatory, and you can't avoid a mando.

He was told to start slow according to NBA. I think Peterson was trying to slow him down and make him think about what he was doing. My opinion anyhow.

Martinez is a 35 year-old former welterweight himself who just beat a 28 year-old prime, cruiserweight Kelly Pavlik who rather lied about moving up not to take the same beating in the rematch, and looked to fight Julio Cesar Chavez Junior. I never discredited Pavlik for taking on a 7 years older former welterweight, and it's should be much worse than Martinez-Mosley following your logic. In the end, Martinez-Williams is even better, they have unfinished business, unlike you and me. :hi:

Martinez's time on top will last about as long as a fart in the wind. diBella knows that, and that is why he has a whole laundry list of excuses for Martinez not to fight Williams, or any legitimate Opponent.

And here you are making these wild ass claims that "Pavlik lied." Find me a single statement where Pavlik said he is not moving up. Go ahead now. run a long and find me a link.

No way in hell he beats him. Martinez is all wrong for him. I have a feeling PWs chin is starting to crack too.

According to The Scene, the fight is bascially a done deal, but not yet signed.
