Hey, I thought he should've hung 'em up after the Audley loss, so I don't think I'm the best judge anymore for Danny's quest... I'm sure he'll want to continue.
That doesn't matter as to how its scored. If the ref says take a point then the judges must take a point.
I'd love to see the scorecards. They must have scored virtually everything for Williams. Justice is done though. McDermott didn't deserve that fight.
There's no way Williams won that fight. 3 points deducted, a 10-8 in the 5th and he still won by 3 rounds on the cards? Seriously? ROFL
Quite possible, even probable, that wasn't scored 10-8 Judges don't like scoring rounds 10-8 without knockdowns, even though they really should and are within their rights to do so if it is sufficiently dominated by one fighter.
Couldnt agree more Reilly my good man. I was watching the fight & kept on saying the same thing to my pal, the commentary was ridiculously biased in favour of McDermott & Watt in particular was out of control AGAIN:twisted: He was all over Big Johns fat ass from the first bell to the last bell, the bellend. & his scorecard was a JOKE. McDermott had one really good round in the fight, but apart from that, he seemed to let Dave the bawbag Parris do all his work for him, & bawbag Parris was more than happy to oblige. Glad big Danny won against all that **** that was going on, also what are SKY talking about with this 'END OF SEASON' crap? There IS no season in boxing, just an excuse for the cheap *******s to keep their wallets shut.
I was'nt into this fight so i only gave McDermott the 10-8 round and nothing else. What exactly did he do before and after round 5? 3 points deducted was BS by the way.
First off, I’m glad Danny retained his title. I thought Parris, and the Sky commentary team were very harsh on Williams throughout. The point deductions were also unfair. I’m not saying that perhaps Danny didn’t deserve a warning but a point off for the low blows that in my opinion weren’t actually low, the glove in the face, which was stupid from Williams didn’t deserve a point off. It can be argued that a deduction should be made for the gumshield, however, McDermott was holding onto Williams for dear life and wouldn’t let go. Williams seemed to grimace and his mouthpiece fell out. On to the fight….. Danny started well but posed and postured far too much. McDermott was ready to quit and Williams didn’t pounce. That just sums Williams up. It was only after the fifth round, where Williams took a shellacking, did he fight with some urgency. But even then he was ragged and didn’t box to his potential. For me, Danny forced the fight and landed with solid punches throughout. I’m glad he won but he looked lethargic and he seemed to have underestimated McDermott. I agree slightly with his sentiments regarding Dave Parris as well. McDermott seemed happy to have perhaps pinched the title so part of me is glad he didn’t win. Danny needs to stop ****ing about at British level now. Just give the belt up and see if a world title shot can be engineered. I am a huge Williams fan but he is probably one of the most frustrating fighters to be a fan of. I'm still waiting to find out these big signings Sky have..........
I was half asleep watching this fight but it did appear to me that McDermott won no more that a legit 10-8 roung and the whole SKY team were talking absolute baws! :huh
The thing with Watt is he'll excessively nuthug the underdog to an annoying degree, if they do anything encouraging. Okay, we get the idea they weren't expected to do very well, but stop BOOSTING everything they do and call it objectively and balanced.
I would have given him the first, fifth (10-8), and one of the tenth and eleventh - throw in two legitimate point deductions and you have a drawn bout. Danny won more rounds but points off for low blows and the stupid shove. OK Parris was a little harsh, but was there any reason for him to do that?
McDermott had one very good round, the rest he tended to keep his distance. Williams surprised me by being suspect to the uppercut and seemed rocked once or twice; but McD couldn't sustain his attacks; or was maybe wary of going in close. Also thought Williams was harshly dealt with by this experienced [sic] ref; this wasn't a dirty fight as things go. Don't think there was one clash of heads... probably too busy standing off ready to unleash the big bombs that were rarely dropped. This was close but Williams won it, IMO. Good effort from McDermott; who will maybe look back and wonder if he shouldn't have shown more confidence. Don't think he was seriously troubled at any stage. Not sure how this leaves British heavyweights on the world stage? Anyone? Could Danny W give it a go? (Personal thoughts are no way unless the purse is one that can't be ignored.)
No, there wasn't and it was ****ing stupid from Williams. He should have known that Parris was on his back so an infringement like that would land him a telling off or worst case scenario a point deduction.
