:yep . . . like what I have been posting all along . . . if Winky comes in, in good form . . . he'll get the W. He is one of the very few fighters who can stay in the pocket and make opponents miss their punches . . . then dish out those thundering counters.
Williams has a lot of flaws in his style and he has never faced someone as technically sound as Winky. Hell, the very limited Quintana once outclassed Williams! Winky is going to school him, and it won't take long for people watching to realize that Winky is naturally bigger, stronger, and better. :smoke
WTF does that mean? His high guard and good blocking skills are an asset, in particular against a fighter like Williams who throws straight punches and does not pack a particularly huge punch. Do people seriously believe Williams packs the same type of punch as Jermain Taylor? I think not! Williams' entire reputation is based on his win against the very limited Margarito. Williams is going to encounter many of the same problems with Winky that Mosley had, only Mosley was much better and much more versatile than Williams is. I seriously believe this thing might unfold as a total mismatch. I think the flipside is much more likely. :smoke
Why, I'm a well-respected boxing journalist, that's who. This fight was impressive but says nothing about Williams' ability to cope with that style. He overwhelmed the limited Quintana before we had a real clash of styles. I assure you, Winky will prove to be much more difficult prey. He never proved he could cope with the style and he's looked impressive against a bunch of mediocres. Margo was a fool. How is this relevant? He took less money to get his ass kicked by Shane! Brilliant! At the end of the day, Shane is better than Williams, and Winky is better than Shane. Remember that! :smoke
As a big Wright fan I can not believe he took 2 years off. What a joke. I do want him to win though. He got jobbed in his bid for a MW title and maybe he can get it now. I believe Williams wins on the fact he's going to try to keep him at a distance not to mention the 2 year layoff on Wright. Can't wait for the fight though.
seriously...winky is ****ing OLD, inactive....and not the winky you are basing your thread on...aint gonna happen
Still Winky has more experience against MUCH better opposition than Williams, this will be a major factor in this fight.
Yeah Winky has been inactive . . . and yes . . . maybe old . . . so what makes you say "ain't gonna happen"?
You know I see someone of Quintana's level giving him so much trouble, I just can't see how a guy that gave BHOP a tough fight, and have fought and beaten top level opponents won't be able to take Williams into very deep waters.
Winky is old and inactive, true enough. I continue to maintain that so long as he's 70% of what he was against Hopkins, he wins and does so convincingly. I actually expect Winky to come in more like 85-90% of what he was then. Williams has bit off more than he can chew. :smoke
