Winky would get outworked

 

It would be nothing like that fight. Tito was a methodical power puncher. He placed his shots and set them up. Margarito is a energetic volume puncher. He throws anything and everything. Everywhere. Winky doesn't have the output to keep, nor the pop to keep Margarito honest.

Actually his style is all wrong against a guy like Margarito. His shell defense would get cracked and busted open. Every shot that Winky would block on his arms and shoulders would eventually wear him down and he would drop his arms. He would get stopped late in the fight or lose a decision.

 

Same thing that happened to Cotto. Cotto landed clean and he couldn't stop Margarito. Cotto has more pop and he couldn't even dent Margarito with flush shots. Blocking 600 - 800 shots on your gloves makes you tired and makes you drop your guard. If you ever sparred or boxed, you would know this. Additionally Winky wouldn't block all the shots. Many would land as they would come in from all angles.

 

At present Margo would take this. Margo is in his prime. Winky's old and I don't even think he could make 154 anymore. Then add in ring rust form such a long lay off.

 

I'm surprised no one has turned this into a Margo vs PBF discussion. So I will. Margo by murder. It's really not a question of weather Floyd would outpoint Margarito over 12 rounds. The question is whether Floyd could survive 12 rounds in the ring with Margarito?

 

I know you're smarter than this. Winky was offered $4 mill then later offered Margo $1.5 mill. Winky was a much bigger name than Margo at the time and therefore would be entitled to be more. Think about what you're claiming here. You're claiming that Winky, coming off a draw against the MW champ, was afraid to face a WW. Now anyone with half a brain knows this doesn't make any sense. Are you sure you want to continue with these foolish posts of yours?

 

Winky doesn't fight to put anybody away. He fights to win on scorecards and with his shell defense and accurate counter punching, I see him winning more rounds than Margo. Margo will probably throw 1200-1500 punches which will mostly land on Winky's gloves, elbows, and arms just like the Clottey fight; the difference is Winky has much better stanima.

 

If Winky could get to 154, I would go with him. Margo had great difficulties at 154 with Santos. Winky vs Margo would be a little like Pavlik vs Hopkins. All this talk about Winky, when the hell is he going to fight anybody. If he keeps taking his time and holding out, he might get in with a journeyman and lose. That will end his career. He needs to fight anyone so that he can land a big fight. Winky vs Abraham would be nice.

 

Prime for prime I totally agree. But now? I voted for Winky, but I'm less confident in that pick than I would have been a few years ago.
