Meaning you can probably bank this figure guys. Is this going to be PPV or is Arum still trying to keep Pavlik off PPV in favor of exposure?

Excellent post Boo. I was the first one giving **** to Arum for the last week and a half or so because I had a feeling he was just trying to find the cheapest possible name to fight and that he was lowballing everyone, so I'm glad these figures became public. It's frustrating as hell because I want to see Kelly in these fights, and I do think Winky deserves his shot.

One thing I haven't seen brought up is that people are talking about Winky's recent record, but that's less important than this: Right now, Winky is a bigger draw than Pavlik. The PPV numbers for Pavlik-Taylor 2 were abysmal considering the fight should've been an easy sell for the promoters due to the great 1st fight being on cable- it only did 250k buys. Kelly's one of the new faces of US boxing, but he's not a big draw yet box office wise. Investing in a bout with Wright can help change that quicker than not fighting him, and Arum knows damn well that just because your guy brings in the belts to the fight doesn't mean he's the one that brings the eyes and asses.

Which irks me even more, because Kelly's got the kind of mainstream potential to help rejuvenate boxing here...but he needs better exposure to do it.

$1.3 Mil + PPV cut is a joke for a guy that hasn't fought in a year? Has all of 3 middle weight fights and gets a title shot? Joke is on Winky cuz someone else is going to be laughing all the way to the bank with that money.:yep I think Winky knows he gets his ass whupped bad in this one and just wants more for what would be his swan song.

Thank you and kudos to you for an excellent post as well. Better exposure -- yes -- against quality, known, opposition. Winky is the ONLY guy at 160 who has real name recognition.

Winky should take what he can get. He may have been paid more in previous fights, but what has he done lately to deserve more then a cool mill?

What did he do to deserve a big payday to begin with? :huh

Winky's pricing himself out of any fights and keeping himself out of the mix. Judah, of all ****in people, took a massive pay cut to face Spinks for his title, and it paid off.

Winky will end up fighting a no namer for a fraction of that now. Maybe on ESPN. He's never been a draw, never benn a crowd pleaser. He only got bigger paydays because of his stature as the best JrMW of this era, which was years ago and is dwindling by the day.

If he can find bigger fights, let him promote himself in those fights.

I wouldn't pay 5 cents to watch Winky fight. Many fans feel that way, and so he shouldn't get paid much. He is so F#cking boring!!!

Boxing is a business. A promoter isn't going to pay Wright 5 million dollars ( or whatever) if there isn't a matching demand for that type of money to watch him fight.

I didn't see the other fight, but the Taylor fight was very interesting for me. Both fighters were aggressive.
