Winky brought the fight to Bhop. I don't see AA outworking anyone.

This a good and logical fight to make. Pavlik vs Abraham can happen no matter what, one loss shouldn't destroy either man's career.

Winky used to be sparring partner for RJJ, Echols, Lacy among others, and handled Taylor's power pretty well, but he'll be 38y.o. for this fight. I'm betting Winky's lost that stamina to pump his jab all night and also that mental toughness to sit there and take power shots through his gloves and into his head all night.

Abraham's too fresh, fearless, and hungry to lose a fight to a fighter who lacks the power to even hurt him.

They could bill this fight for the "world turtle shell defence title".

I think this fight would be very hard for Abraham, depending on how much Wright has left. Abraham can be outboxed, but his power is devastating. If Wright can survive those shots, he might take a decision, though i wouldn't favor him.

I'm pretty sure Pavlik would only fight the winner of this fight. His time at MW grows short.

This fight will be closer than you think. Winky's chin is very sturdy, paired with his high guard it's unlikely Abraham will KO him or even KD him. On top of that, Abraham has a low punch output; so, it's not necessarily a given that he'll outwork Winky.

This isn't a sparring match, this would be a fight versus a younger, stronger man with huge power. Abraham has slightly worse D, he really doesn't get hit all that often, but a much much more dynamic offense. He will attack Winky same as Vargas did, difference being that Abraham doesn't have to eat himself up to 168.

If Winky had stayed active I would say he wins by UD. I can see why some people say AA has power, but if you watch you'll notice that he gets wild and loops punches too much. I think Winky would be a big fight in the development of AA. I'm just not convinced that he is ready to give Pavlik a fight yet.

From what I've read the only way Winky/Abraham happens is if KP loses to BHop. Pavlik/Hopkins has suddenly become a lot more important than it was. However, in my opinion we're going to see a classic example of a guy who took one to many fights against the wrong opponent. Hopkins will keep it close for 3 or 4 rounds, and then start running out of gas. By the middle rounds the tank will be on empty, and Pavlik will hand Hopkins his first serious beating. I don't mean any disrespect to BHop, but he is no longer capable of fighting every second of every round, and if you can't do that against KP, he'll knock your ass out. In other words, Winky/Abraham ain't gonna happen.

I get a feeling that most of you guys are seriously underestimating AA. Winky might even last the distance, but he would surely lose the decision, being as old and inactive as he is, versus a younger, hungrier fighter with the power and skill of Abraham. I'm sure Sauderland wouldn't risk the fight with Winky and a potential superfight with pavlik, without being certain of AA victory.

Pavlik on the otherhand is tailored for Abraham; he is hittable, straightforward and as we have seen, he can be brought down. Styles make fights, and I believe Jermaine Taylor for example would have much better chances against Abraham, than Pavlik would. Imo, Abraham is the worst possible opponent for Pavlik stylistically.

What was the reasoning? Kelly is still MW champ and a front page article says AA wants to unify. Well, he will have a hand in unification. ;)

I really don't know about this one. AA depends on defensive lapses too much.

I agree. This fight has the potential to be abit boring....I can see it now..both circling each other for 2:40 seconds of every round with their arms up just waiting for the other guy to throw. I wouldnt buy it:-(

The Winky that beat Trinidad wins a wide Ud ove Abraham. But a 2009 Winky who will be coming off a year and a half layoff. I don't know. It's a good fight for both guys but I don't know how entertaining it will be. The winner of this becomes the clear and undisputed top conteder for Pavlik. If Pavlik does defend his 160 titles again(something I doubt), than him against the winner of Winky-Abraham is really big.

If this fight were to happen, and Winky were to pull off a win, that would obviously set-up Pavlik/Wright. I'd love to see that because watching Pavlik fight someone he does not like, and is pissed off at, would be GREAT FUN!!
