if he turned it down he's an idiot. prep or no prep. he's only fighting devon alexander next and no one cares about that one jot. it probably won't even get on tv over here. :nono keep lingering in obscurity junior. :hi:
I'm not really surprised...I think that ultimately he is after Bradley, and whilst he doesn't have many miles on the clock father time will eventually catch up with him.
Of course the WBA strap is significantly better regarded than the WBC version....I see your point :-(
witter has been completely merked in this last week or so. in the build up to khan-kotelnik he was going on about how kotelnik was gonna win and dismissing khan. then khan does a better job than he did and gets loads of press over winning a world title. meanwhile witter still sits on the sidelines and then comes out with this little bombshell about him turning down a khan fight. atsch
who cares about the title. him and his dog. witter won a title before and no one cared. let him go over to america to fight an opponent no one cares about and see him lose. actually we probably won't even see him lose cos it won't get shown over here. good decision junior. :nut
Don't try and put the WBC on a pedestal above any other organisation because it's not. It's equally as **** as the rest. Witter probably fancied full notice against a worse opponent(imo), actually for a belt(which the Khan fight wouldn't have been) and on Showtime(helping the chance of a Bradley rematch) over a non title fight with Amir on short notice with 30,000 people watching on tv.
I'd have thought that beating Khan would have been a great opportunity to get Witters name over the UK press, back on a scene he never was on. He's not got much time left now, why let it peter out to reletively nothing?
Grow up. Witter had two options...go to the US to win a world title against a decent opponent (just because you haven't heard of him doesn't mean we haven't) or fight Khan without a title on the line...or were the WBA going to strip Kotelnik just because of a three week deferment and let Khan and Witter fight for the vacant strap :nut If Witter beats Alexander he has set himself up for a rematch against Bradley (which he wants) and then maybe a money fight with Khan to ease him into retirement, its a no brainer.
Hmmm.. need to be careful here. Any strap is only as good as the fighter who holds it and whilst Witter is still a top 5 operator it's hard to argue he would be a proper champ when there's another guy out there who clearly beat him a year ago for the same belt and hasn;t lost since. That said I do agree taking Khan at short notice when he's training for Alexander would not be an advisable move and if he wins on the same bill as Bradley/Campbell it's the best way to go about staking his claim for a rematch.
Witter look ****ed. I doubt he'll beat Alexander but if he does I very much doubt he'll beat Khan. Sounds bitter to me
