He's been cleaning out the division for years, reapetedly beating top 5 heavyweights and other belt holders. I think its fair to become the recognised number 1 by beating enough top 5 fighters if there is no recognised champion- how else would you become 'legitimate HW' titleist??
Lewis' title is vacant until the #1 and #2 HWs fight to establish a new champion. That has not happened yet. Nobody would have ranked Ibragimov or Chagaev as the #1 or #2 HW at the time Wlad fought them. And just so you know, the Ring belt is no better than any other alphabet organization's trinket. I have no problem with him being considered the #1 HW in the world. However, he's still *not* the HW champion until he beats the #2 HW in the world. Period, end of story...
