Hang on, wasn't Vitali the guy that chased him out of boxing?

I seem to remember something about Lewis "aging like fine wine" and planning to fight Vitali and Tyson and Wlad ... and then all of a sudden he got mighty interested in chess, mighty quickly.

Wow, I wonder what happened? ;)

Lewis operating on a whole different level of skill:

Yup, he left a spit trail on that canvas like Wlad never could!

Lewis smashed up every single guy he faced. You are living in cloud cuckoo land if you think the outcome is going to be any different with Wlad.

    Wlad got beaten senseless by:

    Purity

    Sanders

    Brewster

    Fury

    AJ

So 3 bums, one fatty, and one novice he got smashed up by. And he wanted no part of them ever again. Apart from Brewster where he waited till he lost and was shot, then decided it was safe. Weak mentality, weak boxer, weak brother, weak division, weak chin; Wladbot 2000.

He blamed his mother for it, he said she doesn't want him to fight anymore, i don't know what to think about that.
Even his trainer Emanuel Steward thought he would owe Vitali a rematch but suddenly his mother decided for him
not to fight anymore, really the most controversial thing about that fight was not the stoppage that was ok imo, the most controversial thing about it was that the rematch never happened.

Lennox deciding not to face Vitali again is probably the most compassionate act I've ever seen from a boxer.

I think he didn't want the rematch, it was very competitive and Vitali was leading on points, it's not a given that Vitali would have suffered a cut like that in the rematch, he would have had very good chances to beat him in the rematch, i think Lennox Lewis chose the easier way and backed out.

And you think thats worse than Wlad ducking a Sanders rematch to fight Milo , or Vitali ducking a Byrd rematch to fight Hoffman?

Cuts that bad take a long time to heal, every chance Lewis opens his face up like a can of baked beans again.

You are also ignoring the uppercut, Vitali was finished, he walked back to that corner like bambi on ice! Klitschko fans conveniently attempt to airbrush that from history.

He was lucky the doctor made a mercy call.

But it doesn't matter, he still lost. Anyway you cut it. (No pun intended)

And not forgetting that Wlad ducked AJ.

David Haye said as well that Vitali ducked him at the end, he would rather retire than fight him.

But I guess it is okay for the Klitschko's to duck fights.

You can bet your bottom dollar that if Klitschko had managed to scrape a win versus AJ, no Klitschko fan would have a problem with him retiring at that point.

They're worse than Conor McGregor fans.

Yup 100%. Imagine if Rahman and McCall had never rematched Lewis. His legacy would be a lot worse than it was. Not rematching Vitali was both embarrassing and an outright act of weakness, ESPECIALLY after having gone on and on about how he was better than ever and how he wanted to fight Tyson again and Wlad to boot.

Of course he never wanted a rematch. Frankly I think Vitali would have taken him to pieces in a rematch, just as he took him to pieces before the cut became a factor.

Now, one could say Lewis wasn't better than ever (despite his own rhetoric) and that beating this version of Lewis was not the same as beating a prime version. I'd agree.

If Lewis had declined the rematch on the grounds that he was too old, I could understand that.

But, "my mom says I can't" is ... humiliating.

Wow, is that a 41 year old going mano y mano with AJ and nearly winning? Props!

What makes me think that Jeremy and Dino have their hands in each other's pockets?
