The Sanders fight was different to Brewster and Purrity, Wlad wasn't ready for the southpaw style and got caught coming in, he wasn't able to handle Sanders speed and power. Sanders was a very dangerous fighter for anyone until he ran out of conditioning from the third round on.
Of course the oldies were better. Paul Sr vs Paul Jr. Chavez Sr vs Chavez Jr. Mu****as back then built pyramids, 8 wonders of the world. Mu****as today cant even build with legos. Where Rocky lacked in size he made up with stamina and heart. Hed pressure and make Wlad fight backwards. Comparing Brewster, Ibragimov, to the Rock is hilarious. Rock had conditioning and power bigger fighters would envy. He was a small heavyweight back then hed be tinier now. Hed be Pacman of the heavyweights today.
No, those Srs were much better because they came from hardship, their sons didn't. Both Klitschkos came from the highly damaging Soviet school of sports, that broke men before they even came out of it. Only the toughest came out of it. Men today are heavier and better. Back then, the refinement wasn't as pronounced, which is why the weight classes still had massive weight disparities. In today's game, a couple of pounds could sometimes determine victory or loss. And no, the Wlad of today's conditioning is on par with any of the older heavyweights. Probably even better due to the modern refinement of strength and stamina training nowadays.
:good Any ancient Egyptian fighter would clean out any division nowadays (or in the 60´ 70´ 80´90´). Get real, no African American slickster, no Filipino could match ancient Egyptian fighters. Ali would have died in the ring, if he´d fight back then. Those were the good old days when fighters were real men.
Rocky had no quit in him, he was determined as no other, that can't be underestimated.. The size difference is what makes this interesting... Wlad reminds me a little of Sonny Liston in style, he was big for that era too...If I remember correctly from what I've read and heard, back then many would favor Liston had they met, partially based on size...But, Liston also had a phenomenal chin... It's really tough to pick against an iron willed atg like Marciano for a guy that has had his fortitude and chin questioned...But Wlad has answered some of those questions, he's an atg too, and he's just too dang big...
Agreed with this big time. I think Marciano could have moments where he had more success against Wlad than most imagine, but that size factor is huge. I wouldn't totally discount Marciano.
My dad saw Marciano on some of the news reels and listened to him on the radio,he says that Marciano was overrated and his best wins were over rated and against light heavy's past their primes.:think
So what ur saying is the only undefeate HW champion, who is known for his ability to KO durable fighters with one punch, who also has a granite chin, who fought in an era when boxing was a huge sport has the power of a second rate HW of the modern day division. Sigh
Marciano The King ko Wlad in Rnd 10 no chance for wlad Marciano The Real Warrior with iron chin and Great Heart would Press wlad Backward and he would land any round agressive power Body shots and power hooks on wlads chin. Wlad cannot Boxing at the Back he will only in Trouble with Marcianos Style and all who thinks Marciano was Overrated tzzz better this People go Dance Ballet My Grandfahter said Marciano was a absolute strong Boxer and very very Underrated he said to go with Marciano in the Ring and Box him any Boxer would very very suprise what a Hard Badass was Marciano But Klitschko fans can only think in one direction absolute no sense to make a debate with Klitschko fans for me case close here Bye. Ps - I´am so Happy when this month is over and i can change again my Avater.
