Yeah he was like a ghost at weigh in looked awful then does this to Paulie night later. Think it was a fractured orbital and jaw or something mad like that. Paulie can't punch but damn he can take them! This content is protected
Cotto just didn't have the gas in the tank to finish Paulie. Paulie has already said he's a harder puncher than Hatton was. And obviously...than Khan is.
im sorry haye has done nothing for me at HW - his gonna get a very big shock - i hope im proved wrong i want haye to win but this is another hype fight where we will lose again
Yeah i think he peaked and declined very quickly. His brashness and talk got him far but he was decent but frail hands didn't help him. He had a good career and still earning $$$ so good luck to him.
For me this fights 50/50 IMO but i really believe Haye after clips i saw can pull it off and i dunno him and Booth find a way to win normally. The Thompson fight was great learning curve.
Paulie was terrible punch or not. Apart from that fact he had no power whatsoever, he had no variety whatsoever either. All he did was jab, jab jab. His right hand was ****ed most of his career which handicapped him severely. He wasn't as good defensively as he needed to be to use that style. He started off okay in fights and then fell apart completely defensively, relying too much on reflexes when they simply weren't good enough. Add to the fact he has no pop and only a jab to keep you off, its really not a good look.
The only reason that Haye has a loss on his record, the only reason, was bad tactics. He thought he could get The Cat out of there, and threw everything at him but as it turns out Thompson is ****ing nails. Haye has nothing left, Thompson blows a stiff breeze his way and knocks him over. Plus, Haye was mighty green. Even with this in mind - Wlad should win, although I fancy Haye to follow the blueprint already in place and win a career defining KO victory. :deal
Yeah it was really silly of Haye to think that but he believed he could spark everyone and when he had Carl hurt thought that was it but we all know Carl is better when hurt. That fight has made him the fight he is now a fighter who is prepared for all aspects. I'm pretty sure he will be training on being KD like he has in past.
Were they though? The fundamentals were arguably pretty poor. He unravelled under pressure very quickly because fundamentally, his defence was shocking. He had no second line of defence aside from crouching and trying to move his head. When his reflexes slowed into a fight he got mullered as we saw against Hatton and Khan. His reflexes didn't last the pace. What also made it difficult for him defensively is the fact he couldn't keep people honest. I was amazed he beat Juan Diaz to be honest.
I've gone from 70/30 in Wlads favour a couple of years ago to 60/40 when this fight was announced and bordering on 50/50 today.
It's pretty much a 50/50 fight for me (but if I had to I'd still back Wlad just about) I know Haye has lost a bit of popularity in the last few years but a 55/45 split in favour of Haye is quite a good reflection of how knowledgeable and decent most of the Brit forum is IMO :good
