Like I posted in another topic, Alex knocking Wladimir out would make the heavyweight division much worse in an instant. You would have every other sissy heavyweight going on twitter calling Wladimir out saying " Yu dun want sum of dis! " and Wilder would write " LOL Wladimir u afrad of me? da bomb squad!!!! i knock u out sunnn!! " Wladimir would rematch Alex right away and it would be so sad whatever happens, so if anybody doesn't want the heavyweight division to get worse then hope Alex doesn't win.

its as boring as bat**** atm.

alex winning by ko can only be a good thing for the division.

it would encourage more fighters to take a risk imo.

You wouldn't have a clear cut dominant fighter anymore, that's why it would be extremely bad.

Then it would be like the early 80's and most of the 90's, it's not good boxing.

Lennox Lewis was knocked out cold by an over the hill Rahman, and TKO'd by McCall..................................Vlad does not have a bad chin, but it is good the haters believe he does, it helps him open up his opponents................

Because Leapai defeated Denis Boytsov who was the #1 ranked by WBO at the time.

Because Wlad wants to keep all his titles.

Lepai beat a RING contender, rather Boystov deserved his ranking or not, that's more than what most have done.

Bingo to both of the previous two responses. While I think Wlad fighting Leapai is a joke, he doesn't control the ratings.

Leapai earned it in a fair and square upset in an eliminator. Whining not withstanding or relevant. Definitely if other contenders are upset they should have entered in and stuck out through an eliminator themselves like they're supposed to and earned their own shot. I'm tired of all the hand ringing over this. It's cut and dry.

Because the following title fights also happened…

    Jack Johnson v Tony Ross
    Jack Dempsey v Georges Carpentier
    Joe Louis v Jack Roper
    Floyd Patterson v Pete Rademacher
    Joe Frazier v Terry Daniels
    George Foreman v Jose Roman
    Larry Holmes v Scott Frank

this list could go on and on...

Agreed to some extent...But the fact that fight was even billed as an eliminator to begin with is somewhat disgraceful on the part of the WBO. Neither of those guys have done much of note to have been placed in that position.. And Leapai's career in particular, overall has left much to be desired. Beating one decent fighter should not make up for an entire career of mediocrity, especially when that one "decent" fighter happens to be Dennis Boystov.

EDIT: Leapai vs Boystov wasn't even billed as an eliminator.

True but Wlad has already had more than his fair share of Roper's, Carpentiers, and Franks.

And unlke quite a few of those, Lepai actually beat a man considered to be a contender to earn this particular title shot.

Nothing is stopping Fury, Wilder, Chisora or these other guys people want to see against Wlad from doing that.

The Pulev fight will likely be next, but despite his higher standing, he'll likey be just as overmatched...
