False. It was the Mandatory. Povetkin pulls out! And than he had to box the next available conender. Wlad cannot make the rules of the IBF. The heavyweight Champion had to defend the title in period of 9 months. Read the rules before talking bul****.

Well let me be 100% clear: Rahman was ranked behind Povetkin as the #2 contender for Wlad's IBF title belt. Maybe the IBF deemed him worthy of that ranking because he's a former champion, coming off a no decision. Rahman was fairly active leading up to the fight, replacing quality opponents for a quantity of them. I don't agree that he was ranked that high, although I do give him credit for an incredibly big win over a great champion. In the past he has shown a very good, long range jab & a killer right hand. It's not Wlad's fault that he didn't show up 100% to fight, used hardly any jab & couldn't land the right hand. Sorry for any confusion, but I don't contradict myself at all. That's my story since the beginning when the Wlad vs. Rahman fight was first announced until today.
What the **** are you on about? Once again, let me repeat myself: Wlad chose Rahman because he was the next highest available contender for the IBF. Which means with a win he can fight a voluntary defense against Haye if he chooses to. Once again, we would not even be discussing this fight if Wladimir fought anyone other than Rahman.
