Cooney had the power to ko anyone he could hit with the hook but his right hand was only good for swiping his ass. Cooney was stopped by Holmes but quicker by Michael Spinks and Foreman and i saw him get stopped in the amatuers by one of the Davis brothers at light heavy....Cooney had a great doulble hook but if Vlad like Holmes knew it was his only punch, he could avoid it keep Gerrie at bay and pop shot the right and the hook and the jab....Vlad is a better overall 2 fisted fighter than Cooney ever...a Vlad KO

Why in the hell would anyone use the Spinks or Foreman fights as a measure for how Cooney would fair in a prime for prime fantasy matchup?

maybe because it was the first time Cooney fought a live opponent other than Holmes ...who would you use Lyle or Norton fights as a measure

I think the Cooney of the Norton fight was better than the Cooney of the Holmes fight. Remember there was an issue of a shoulder tear before the Holmes fight and I think that greatly took away from Cooney's left hook. If you watch the two fights Cooney throws the hook much faster and sharper against Norton.

Cooney also had no right hand at all. Cooney was a confusing fighter his trainer did not develop him properly and his managers matched him very carefully and did not have him prepared for Holmes.

I think Klitschko would take this as he was the more complete fighter and Cooney was just too inconsistant. It would be an exciting fight for sure.

Norton was a bum anyway. I'm susprised he lasted as long.

I'd make Wlad a favorite, but stylistically Cooney has the drop on him. No more than 3-2 imo.

The Cooney of 1981 / '82 has a good shot at beating the pre 2005 Wlad Klit in a time machine..... The Klit of 2006 to the present is now too polished and experienced to get caught or stopped by Cooney....:good:deal

Cooney by KO inside 10 rounds.

Klitschko's atheleticism keeps him in this fight and he does make it competive through the middle rounds. Cooney would be one of the toughest opponents for either Klitschko brother and I'd bet on Jerry winning a fight between either of them.

Cooney was a terrible cokehead and hadn't trained for the Spinks fight. He really seems to have just given up after Holmes.

    **** you pal :D

Yeah, that's Bummy for ya. Ask him what he thinks of Ali sometime. He'll tell you how losses to Leon Spinks and Trevor Berbick make him a clear underdog in a prime for prime fantasy matchup against another great. :good
