Pulev walked into the ring with an exaggerated swagger. Reminded me of a blowfish trying to make himself look bigger. Made a disrespectful clown face after getting pasted by Wlad then took worst punishment as a result. Threw mostly rabbit punches until he was practically decapitated with one of the best HW left hooks I've seen in years and now he ain't man enough to tip his cap but make excuses like a punk child. Pulev is finished. I doubt he will recover from this beating. Chalk up another undefeated contender knocked out into obscurity from the Champ :bbb

Bull****! Pulev came to fight unlike Leapai and all those black american bigmouths before him.Wlad just played in a different dimension but Pulev at least tried to turn it into a trench war.I take my hat off to Pulev. He showed a great heart in tonight's fight.

Not exactly, Lewis leaned on Tyson, Wlad pushed away Pulev like "stay down this time" :good

Pulev didn't do jack****. Standing in the distance holding up your arms, not throwing any power shots (ZERO!) without any head movement is not 'coming to fight'.

Pulev had no gameplan, he was in over his head and had no clue what he was doing. As soon as the bombs started dropping on him he had no idea on how to handle it. He wasn't trying to fight at all. He was trying to survive.

Pulev grimacing and making clown faces after the first knockdown tells you all about his professional attitude you need to know. He's a clown who lacks the right attitude to box at the elite level.

People forget that Pulev didn't look great against Thompson and Ustinov.

Odo is correct, imo, Pulev did connect with a few shots clean on target, he was game, have to give him that, and could take a punch, but he was much slower than wlad, couldnt deal with wlads hand speed or didnt see the shots coming.

Pulev had some of the right tactical elements in place

He tried to negate Vlad’s jab and cross through a number of means (i.e. extending his left hand, and keeping it high in the air). Pulev made good use of clinches, hitting Vlad with hard body shots, and a high volume of rabbit punches, for which he should’ve been warned. He generally attempted to make it a rough, physical fight, which, when done well, can take Vlad out of his comfort zone. The most critical element of his plan was that he attempted to make Vlad not want to clinch by punishing clinches, and fighters should do that more often.

This plan can work well for somebody with better movement (Pulev’s body isn’t optimized for mobility, to put it in gentle terms), a better chin, better stamina, better decision-making (i.e. when you’re knocked down with hard left hooks, focus on surviving, rather than going right back to offense in a round you’ve surely lost), and better power.

That said, Vlad demonstrated that he can be an exciting fighter, and that he would be the heavy favorite against anyone in the division.

I think Pulev drank from the same reservoir as Chauncy Welliver has been slaking his gigantic thirst on lately...

Both have undergone a severe ******ation and regression of their boxing skills and started developing some downright amateurish habits (I don't mean "amateur boxing style"...I mean amateurish, as in first-time in the gym novice...)

Pulev's weird bug-zapper thing he was doing with his left - that isn't textbook defense in any coach's textbook in the world..and when he got caught he would just spread his arms, put his chin up even higher and sort of quake with his eyes unfocused (an early as bad as Welliver turning his back on Browne under fire). That is of course in part creditable to Klitschko's sharpness and power, but Kubrat's defense just wasn't there, on the instinctive or tactical end.

    I didn't forget. :deal

I used to be on Team Pulev (as far as being a guy who could dethrone Klitschko), but after Ustinov, Thompson, and Joey freaking Abell jumped off the boxcar and did a bad ass hobo barrel roll, with my bindle stick in hand the whole time.

You'd think that someone with an amateur career like Pulev's, which includes being a bronze medalist at the World Amateur Championships, would know better than to do **** like that. And would have better defense.

Every single thing you mentioned ended up working against him.
