Two fighters for me that are overrated but as said above I think bowe would struggle in this one . There are to many question marks over bowe if wlads jab right hand combination land well and often early how will bowe react. Will bowe be up for the fight against the slightly bigger man. wlad wont punch low and give the fight to bowe ,Which bowe will turn up on fight night.

Still it will not be a big shock if Bowe were to topple wlad and then finish him off

I'm going for wlad here and am shocking myself by doing so

Bowe never had a good defense, and could be nailed by right hands . While Bowe's prime was very short, I never felt he addressed the above, and he wasn't a thinker in the ring. No way he could out jab Wlad, or take his right hand.

But you could say Wlad could not take many bombs from Bowe ( Well maybe if he clinches ) either.

So I pick the guy who would likely land his best first, by fighting smart. Wlad via TKO.

Which Bowe shows up? Aren't we assuming this is the TOP condition for both fighters in this scenario?

If so I just think Bowe has the better tools to win the fight. He's not dwarfed like most of Wlad's opponents have been. If Wlad comes to hold Bowe with his great inside game could rip uppercuts and Bowe's jab is nothing to laugh at. His 1-2 was really good.

I think the deciding factor will be Bowe's willingness to throw body shots, work on the inside, and keep Wlad's offense to the minimum by pumping his jab.

Would probably be a really good fight to watch, Wlad is a great fighter but I just think in this matchup Bowe would win.

Wlad's defense it based on him being bigger than his opponents and doing everything possible not to get hit. Its not like its amazing he just using his size more than actually having a good D.

I don't see Bowe having much of a problem on landing on Wlad which would mean we get a Wlad who is panicking and backing into the ropes losing his size advantage which is bad news against a fighter like Bowe.

Disagree. Wlad has fantastic defense and a great sense of range. He is also much faster than bowe.

I'll tell you this, I don't see Wlad having problems hitting bowe flush throughout the night with his jab and right hand

By 1996, Riddick Bowe no longer had Eddie Futch in his corner. And given that you think so highly of Wlad's improvement with Manny in his, and Rooney in Tyson's, then I think you can appreciate the value of having a key trainer at your back.. Bowe was training like **** towards the end of his career and had to deal with the pain of being hit with Andrew's low blows besides. Nevertheless, despite being battered from pillar to post, he still fought back like a warrior in the heat of adversity - something Wladmir has rarely shown us he can do.

Its true that Bowe had some problems with technicians who could fight well from the outside and employ a good jab while staying out of range.. But Wlad is not exactly Muhammad Ali and hasn't faced many in the past 10 years who could physically impose themselves on him on the inside. Even some of the current crop have occasionally gotten to him and made him look unimpressive from time to time.. All of these recent challengers are a far cry from that 1991 - 1994 Riddick Bowe.

So who wins? I'm not really sure. Wlad could outpoint him or Riddick may stop him at some point.. Could go either way.. But I'm not about to call this a one sided affair in favor of either man, and certainly not based on one or two performances against uncommon opposition.

I think you can look at the McCline fight or the 1st Thompson fight or even the Haye fight to see how a the game plan would go, Vlad got hit in these fights but stayed with the jab and used his legs well until the other guy got drunk, weary or fearful of getting starched (Haye) Bowe got hit too much and the way Vlad fights now (smart, careful and conservative) is the way he can win AND HE NO LONGER FIGHTS CARELESSLY ...I think we have to wait until Vlad starts to slip badly or gets overconfident in a fight before we can see him get hit as often as Bowe, Riddick had good whiskers but the accumulation causes him to lose by TKO to Vlad sometime near the 10th 11th or sooner

The Bowe that fought Holyfield in the first fight destroys any version of Wlad, destroys.

Wlad doesn't make it anywhere near the 11th round...Wlad is not fort knox , everybody he fights gets in on him, even Pianeta.....Bowe will punch his way inside. Wlad can clinch , but i see Bowe breaking through and snapping his head back before following through with a barrage that ****s up Wlads psyche and takes him out of the fight....He turns gun shy and its all over.

Prime Bowe by KO, he brings too much intensity for Wlad to handle.

He jabs well enough to jab with Wlad & on the inside he'd just wreck him. Bowe's too big & strong to just clinch & Wlad has no inside game at all. Bowe could be ruthlessly dirty at times & he'd rough up Wlad, make him panic & then knock him out.

Bowe was a sloppy fighter with porous defense, way overrated power and who couldn't throw a straight right. He did have heart, however, and that would keep him around to receive a sustained beating.

I picked Klitschko by K.O. I expect Bowe to come out swinging when hurt and outboxed, and I expect the referee to end it at some point.

Wlad wins, just like Lennox would have had they fought. Bowe got beat on the outside by Holyfield in their second fight, and it's no coincidence that it was Steward in his corner during that fight. Wlad is too fast and too accurate, he would negate Bowe's sloppy outside game (and it WAS sloppy) and use his superior footwork to avoid long any long term exchanges on the inside. Wlad UD or late stoppage.
