Wladimir Klitschko vs. Rocky Marciano

The most similar fighter Marciano fought to Wlad would be Shkor. I’ve only seen a short clip of the fight, but Shkor used every dirty trick in the book on Marciano much like Wlad did on Povetkin such as leaning on Marciano and lots of clinching.

Marciano retaliated and hit Shkor low and got head control and turned him and clipped him much like he did to Moore and it was a one sided fight after that.

I could definitely see Wlad at his best giving Marciano trouble because Wlad with Steward in his corner knew every trick in the book, but Marciano unlike Povetkin wouldn’t let Wlad get away with fouling him over and over again. This was also the case with Cunningham, who let Fury keep fouling him without retaliating.

 

There is that, but I'll ask u a question .. Who's got the better chin in ur opinion , Walcott or Wlad ?

of course, its about landing, his skill was exquisite.

 

He was brilliant,I love the guy , but I differ there.I don't see Jersey lasting at least 10 straight fight unbeatable against some of wlads challengers .I just don't.I rate Joe high but not unbeatable in modern day heavyweight s .

 

I'm not slagging off either Rock or Jersey ,I rate both so highly.Im just really not comfortable giving either a 100 per cent chance of beating a modern day , pretty dominant champ .

Marciano's stamina is too much for Wlad

Marciano has 1 punch knockout power in both hands, and can throw a punch at every angle.

Marciano specialized in getting under a jab and had a hellish body work in the clinch

Imo Marciano breaks Wlad down and ends it mid rounds

 

No one was able to operate against Wlad in the clinch and I am talking about guys 3x as strong as Marciano, big, real athletes not blown up light heavies. Wlad was a freaking octopus and top notch strength athlete.

And I guarantee that Wlad's right was quite a bit harder than anything Marciano ever threw. And his hook was very far better, too.

This isn't even a fair competition.

This is just objectively false. Marciano's Suzie Q trumps Wlad any day. Marciano is an ATG puncher who knocked out better competetion too

Marciano can come inside with body punches, or even headbutt in clinches. Wlad's clinch bull**** would be exploited just like AJ's against Ruiz. Marciano also has a superior arsensal of punches including the Suzie Q and Gazelle Punch

Oh and Marciano wasn't knocked out by 2 journeymen and a fringe contender

Oh and Marciano's legs are clearly stronger that Wlad's, for whatever it's worth. You overrate physical strength. This is boxing, not powerlifting

Glad you like Rocky and that he fills a space in your life that is clearly empty and in need of filling.

Let's disregard empirical data and the comments of some of the greatest trainers. Marciano simply would not have a career as a heavyweight in this era. His body broke down against the puny old timers and circuit fighters of his day. He would be retired long before he reached the top run in the post modern era.

Wlad and Rocky are essentially different species in this discussion.

 

The epitome of your fetish for modern athletes is all in this sentence.

To call them a different species is foolish. They were of the same material. They were both great champions. Champions at heart.

One day I hope you'll look at all of the athletes of boxing losing to those who were born genetically superior in boxing traits such as a chin and punch power. And, of course, recognize the important of heart and hard work. But that's not relevant right now
