Wladimir Klitschko's legacy without smaller heavyweights?

seems unfair to blame someone for being huge.

You really do not understand the point I'm trying to make, do you?

There's been an influx of threads and opinions introducing a new heavyweight division, ruled by the modern "super-heavyweights" who are apparently the greatest specimen in the history of the sport and make for the greatest compilation of heavyweight fighters ever. You'll often hear arguments about how Wladimir Klitschkos faces the best opposition of all because heavyweights are:

    a) taller than ever
    b) heavier than ever

This thread is meant to disprove that notion. Hence I posted a list of Wladimir's best victories, and none of them fit the criteria for superheavyweights. It has nothing to do with putting down Wladimir Klitschko, or making implications that he's only successful because he physically outsizes his opponents.

ok I see. but there aren't any other SHWs like wlad apart from the abysmal Wach, and the middling valuev now retired.

its obvious that SHWs aren't some new higger breed.

I thought this what you were alluding to. A case of, if size matters so much why are some of Wlad's best wins against small heavies like Byrd, Haye and Povetkin, right?

Byrd was under 200 pounds on the plane over for the first fight.

    This explains Haye

And Wlad had to hold , grapple , cinch , maul and lean all over him. Haye should have been holding on , not Wlad.

He's been using his size to illegally foul his way to victory for 10 years.

Size is nothing if you can't box. Primo Carnera wasn't some undefeatable beast. Valuev was outboxed by much smaller fighters in Chagaev and Haye.

This. A 200+ pound boxer can generate more than enough power to knock anyone out. Both Wlad and Vitali have been stopped by smaller heavyweights.

Ali was 6 feet 3 inches tall, Quarry was only 5 feet 10 inches tall, never heard any complaints about that..................nor did I hear any complaints about Lennox Lewis fighting smaller fighters..................Vlad easily beat Wach, who was 6 feet 8 inches tall, Derrick Jefferson, 6'6", Ray Austin/ 6'6", Thompson, 6'6", ad infinitum. Vlad won the gold medal in the super heavyweight division......................he will fight Fury next, who is 6'9" tall..................tall fighters are easier for Vlad than shorter ones.................Vlad knocked out Bostice, 6'5" tall, etc.

I really rate him.he has beaten so many good fighters.but povetkin and Byrd are the closest thing to hall of framers he has beaten and they are not hall of farmers.the other heavyweights are doomed for several more years.
