there might be one or two decent female boxers but there is no depth, the competition is garbage so how can you measure how good the top ones truly are, one or two good fighters can't carry a whole sport.
Women's boxing will never become a popular spectator sport because the male boxers are better. They hit harder, they can go longer periods of time throwing hard punches. They are faster and tougher. People would rather watch those fighters. But I respect genuine female boxers who train hard. I just don't want to watch them fight.
The answer is a flat no. She isn't white, Hispanic, Asian, Middle Eastern, or biracial so white Americans will never support her. Since she isn't white or has lighter skin black males won't support her.
Shields is legit. If she can't get the money from boxing, I'd expect to see UFC try and poach her down the road. It'll be hard for her to transcend women's boxing fighting in that sport alone without a legit rival or the famous last name. Glad to see her getting a chance on Showtime.
It'll be tough for sure but I would like to see Women's boxing become a thing. Clarissa is the best shot, and there's another gold medalist I have been seeing on British undercards. I'm all for it, they just have to go hard with the promotion.
Only fight I'd be interested in is sheilds vs an MMA male her size in the boxing ring. I saw her tool a male amateur on youtube in sparring, it would be interesting to see her vs an MMA "boxer".
These women boxers can pack quite a punch. Ann Wolfe vs Vorda Ward. Ward had neck concussion because she hit the canvas with her neck when she fell. Ward was taken to the hospital in serious condition due to damage to her neck and head. She recuperated. https://gfycat.com/OrneryFilthyGossamerwingedbutterfly
Exactly. One fighter, however good, cannot lead a "revival" of a sport in which most matches are not remotely competitive. Could women's boxing enjoy a minor resurgence if one of the big promoters pushes Shields the way King did in the 90s with Christy Martin? Sure. But without the depth to sustain interest, any such resurgence is likely to be temporary and illusory, at best.

Why are you talking as if Claressa Shields has already dominated everyone in her division? She's 2-0 as a pro. Without a legit rival? Not competitive? Christina Hammer would whoop her right now easily. It would be like feeding a 2-0 gold medalist Anthony Joshua to Klitschko. Amateurs and pros are different. Let's see if she can ever even beat the best woman in her division first. Claressa Shields could be just another American hype job for all we know. Let's face it, any American combat sport athlete who wins an Olympic medal gets hyped. It was the same with Ronda with her judo bronze medal as if that's something special. Even Wilder the bronze bomber got special treatment. And now Claressa is supposed to bring women boxing on the map when she's yet to fight any decent opponent.
Top 10 p4p irrespective of gender is pretty ambitious. Braekhus has probably come the closest in recent memory but any woman punching her way through that glass ceiling is probably still a generation or two away.
