i think unlike the last games, outside of these championships, there is only one more qualifying tourny and not 2 like last time

Not sure if they actually box each other in an event or if its more of a weeks training session whereby the GB coaches assess thema nd pick who they like best for the weights that are left to box for. i'll look into it and find out

What's the deal with Ward, does he always look that bad? Horrible fight to watch, lots of clinching. Ward looked fat and tired in there, wild sloppy punches.

ward usually looks like a beast for a 17 year old...
looks a little bit raw but to be expected for a lad so young..
i wouldnt say ive ever seen him look bad
the chap has serious resume proving his quality world junior champ world youth champ irish senior title and euro senior gold

Yeah I know he has a good resume, that's why I was surprised he looked so bad. Lunging, sloppy and wild. His Junior rival Hooper was in a bout just before Ward and he looked brilliant. Ward looked tired in the second round and physically he looked tubby and slow.

definately dont think hes fully grown into the weight .i think he came up to light heavy as he probably doesnt expect to be at middle by the time the olympics role around ...hopefully he learns from this and pushes himself harder in training as you say he didnt look too prepared
