Worst and most bizarre Boxing takes you've ever seen ?

Much of the Floyd hate is way over the top...

Probably dumbest one I've come across was actually in a boxing mag, probably KO, but could a been Ring, that stated Harry Grebb would beat Roy Jones at MW because Jones would be too befuddled by Grebbs windmill style.
That has to be one of the most ridiculous takes for boxing or any other sport that I've ever heard in my life

 

I remember reading that online around 2000, some person was saying that Naseem Hamed was the best featherweight ever, and said he would beat prime Azumah Nelson because boxing had evolved so much since Nelson.

So much major evolution over a whopping 13 years lol

 

I think you have it backwards. I thought the point of the thread is to post opinions that you find bizarre from other posters. I am a massive advocate for amateur boxing and think it is extremely important. I have had plenty of arguments with folks on here who don't understand the importance of an amateur background.

Maybe I misunderstood the point of the thread? I edited my original post to make my opinion clear on the matter.

Primo Carnera being treated as a joke is quite literally a bad joke. Defamation of a great man.

 

With victories over Sharkey, Loughran, Uzcudun, Lasky and Levinsky, if Carnera is a joke, he drags the whole era down with him.

 

That, and he wasn't even the biggest man around. Media did him a huge disservice.

To be fair, he is the biggest man to have won the undisputed title.
284 lbs with abs. You can find Champs who weighed more and we're taller, but not built like him.

 

Carried the weight extremely well. Such an underrated athlete in general. A fifteen round fighter.

I belong to a couple of facebook boxing pages and EVERY time something about Pryor comes up someone (or multiple people) will say Leonard ducked Pryor. I recently had an exchange with someone about that so I gave him the Wikipedia page with Pryor turning down two offers and finally accepting the third (I'm sure everybody here knows this) and was told I was a special kind of liar. Crazy.

 

It is. You can usually suss out actual boxing fans from professional Leonard haters when this subject comes up.

 

Leonard seems to bring out the crazy in some people. I've seen guys saying he was afraid to fight Duran after No mas. It's really my fault though, joining facebook boxing pages, lol.
