I can remember Biggs' corner telling him between rounds in his fight with Tyson to 'stand there and trade with him'. He lasted about fifty seconds after that. Sure, his legs were probably long gone, but still. When your advice has less probability of success than trying to verbally negotiate a draw, you might be better off not saying anything.
Worst advice in recent memory was when Brocks dad told him to stay away and move for the last two rounds of the Chambers fight, cause he (Brock) had the fight won, already. Of course, Brock was behind, and running those last couple rounds put him even further behind, sealing his loss.
Seldon's corner when he was fighting Gerald "Jedi" Nobles. "You're losing to a guy with titties!" Technically true. Practically, useless.
Has anyone mentioned Pepe Correa yet? After an awkward first round against Oliver McCall Pepe's advice to Lewis was "just go out there and knock him out" :nut atsch We all know what happened next - and Pepe obviously knew nothing about the opponent.
I have seen about maybe 6/7 fights with buddy in the fighters' corner and to every fighter he says ''stay low''. :huh The same sentence to every fighter:huh
Number 1 thread over folks:good ****ing Teddy Atlas feels the need to give advice by reciting sonets, poems and telling stories and ****..Reminds me of an old acidhead I used to buy herb from:rasta In the begining of the Diaconu-Hoye fight he is doubting Diaconu saying that Hoye is stronger coming off his KO loss to Woods"Sometimes you have to lose in order to win" ****ing numbskull..Anyone else here want to knock that goofy ***** into next week??
How about Manny "The Goofy Teady Bear Looking ******" Steward after the 5th round of the Pavlik fight "You've got him Jermain..He's fadin..fadin fast"atsch atsch
Shiro Kameda's instructions to his son to use illegal tactics against world flyweight champion Naito.
Think about this: Manny said that at the end of the 5th, and the end of the 6th he told Taylor he was losing the fight!! WTF! He's fading fast but you're losing:huh Plus after the 1st round he told JT "He's not used to fighting at this pace." It's hard to believe that a world class trainer would utterly fail to do his homework on the number one contender before a fight, but I think that is what happened. I do not think it's why Taylor lost, but I do think it happened. Boo
