McGirt's entire game plan for Gatti against Mayweather was total garbage. By round two it should have been obvious that counter punching and jabbing was beyond stupid. Gatti should have gone out there swinging from the start while Mayweather was still a little cold. If you study Mayweather's fights, you'd notice he has the most trouble during the first half, and than adjusts and builds momentum. Gatti had the size and power to do some damage, but the way he was fighting played to all his stylistic weaknesses going into that fight. He would have only had a punchers chance but that is better than no chance at all.
