ESB's Official Worst Post of the Week

Barerra won that 8 rounds to 4. He out boxed Hamed, he in no way beat him up. He didn't even drop Hamed (who was prone to tasting canvas). In no way was that an ass whoopin.

    Says who?
    Give me a break!

    I completely disagree!

While Hamed never went down he was systematicaly beaten up by MAB, Hamed lost something in the ring that night or more accurately Barrera took something from him.

At the end of the fight I said Hamed would never be the same again and thats how it panned out. I am/was a Hamed fan and it pains me to make this statement but its the truth.

Had this fight happened 3years earlier I think Hamed, under Ingle, would have been too slick and too powerfull for MAB and we would have seen a reverse of what actually took place.

:verysad Barrera was a much better fighter than Hamed. ...Ingle or no Ingle.

Just an opinion, but I'm inclined to think the Hamed pre-America would have taken apart any featherweight. There was hardly any foot movement or combination punching from Hamed against Barrera, you could tell he couldn't be arsed putting in the effort and as a result he got schooled by Barrera. Not taking anything away from MAB, one of my favourite fighters (to be honest I didn't know of him until after that beat-down he gave), but honestly back in the day Hamed was explosive and great entertainment.

It was a sad ending for a person with huge talent.

Cotto v Margarito has got to be up there, as agree or not, Cotto was'nt the same after it.

Vitali v Williams was also a one sided beating, as was B-hop v Trinidad.

I also forgot to mention... Cintron v TV Monitor

Back in the day, Hamed was fighting B level fighters...all of which would have succumbed in similar fashion to Marco Antonio Barrera. Hamed was with Ingle for Kevin Kelley...and his limitations were quite clearly on show even by that time. The myth has since arose that Hamed was some kind of super human before Ingle left...not at all, he was just fighting over-matched opponents.

Tito-Vargas wasnt completely one-sided but it would have certainly helped Vargas' career if the fight had been stopped a lot sooner.

He took some vicious punches and by the time the final punch landed' he was in a terrible state.

Calzaghe-Lacy...that was an ass whipping that should have been stopped after six or seven rounds but instead Lacy took four or five additional needless rounds of punishment. Shattered his confidence, his chin, and he has never recovered since. Great move Dan Birmingham!
