:happy I felt the same about Maskaev v Rahman. That was premature. They could surely have airlifted Rahman out from under that desk and deposited him back in the ring within 10 seconds, surely! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tQeqquW1ugo
Khan vs Limond was a bit late as well. By about a round and a half. I always thought that once ten seconds had passed the fight was over...... Obviously not.
I think Juan Manuel Marquez defeats Manny Pacquiao at any weight from 126-140lb. I don't think Manny can be considered proven at any weight above 130lb, and making him favorite against Hatton at Light Welterweight is to say his victory over De La Hoya serves as an indication. I don't think it does. Hatton is most comfortable at 140, whereas Oscar clearly was no longer a Welterweight. Likewise, Hatton showed a lot more in his last fight with Paulie than Oscar did when he decisioned Forbes. There will be no excuses from me if Manny Pacquiao beats Ricky Hatton, but people are forgetting just how hittable David Diaz was, and how incompetent Oscar was. (How do you see Khan/Barrera?)
Irrespective of how Oscar looked, Pac was rapid fire weighing 148.5lbs on the night, very fast and packing power. Above 135, he would be stronger than JMM, who I don't believe will carry the weight as well as Pac. With regard to Hatton, speed kills. Pac's movement and punches will be as fast in round 12 as they are in round 1. Hatton will be knocked out cold in the final round. JMO
I fear for MAB to be quite honest. Khan is a huge lw, and Barrera is not a lw. Although he is much derided now, Khan has very fast hands and he hits hard. I don't want to think about that fight. The thought of a warrior like Barrera being broken down by a guy not fit to lace his boots is awful.
I think other than Juan Manuel Marquez and Erik Morales, Ricky Hatton will be the hardest opponent of Pacquiao's career. I don't see him knocking Ricky out, and likewise I don't see him being able to take too many flush shots from a fully fledged Light Welterweight in Hatton. In regards to Barrera/Khan, I will be exceptionally nervous on the night. This is the first fight I will have ever seen live, and if my favorite fighter of all time is taken apart by a fighter of Khan's quality, it will bother me a lot. I won't even lie about it - I will be feeling it for weeks, because that's how I feel about the fighters I support. However, that said, I think even now Barrera has to much quality for Khan, who has never even to this day, took a punch with the kind of technique Barrera will land with. Barrera is not a World class Lightweight, but neither is Amir Khan. Like I said, very very nervous.
Yep, thats how I feel. Khan is (rightly) the butt of many jokes but he could end up really doing a number on Barrera.
Do you think if the fight was allowed to go on, Chavez could have inflicted life threatening injury to Meldrick with two seconds to go?
