Would a prime Mike Tyson be as dominate as he was if he had boxed in the 1970`s?

The guys who have the most chance at beating a prime Tyson are big, strong and mobile guys, that are skilled enough and can also hit really hard. Ali doesn't fit that description, he clearly lacks the punching power and he ain't that big either.

Muhammad Ali from 1970-1974 beats Tyson. Muhammad Ali from 1975 to 1978 against any version of Tyson from 1985 to 1995, and Tyson likely beats Ali ... and beats Ali progressively worse as the 70s wore on. I doubt 1977 or '78 Ali even goes the distance.

Frazier in 1970 and 1971 vs Tyson, I'd take Frazier. The Frazier from 1972 on (after the beating Joe took in Superfight 1), I'd take Tyson by KO in pretty short order. Hell, Ron Stander was going toe-to-toe with Frazier in '72. Ron STANDER!!

Foreman vs. Tyson is a toss-up. I can see George pummeling Tyson, and I can just as easily see Tyson hitting George with the same brutal combinations Tyson dropped Thomas with. In the 70s, George was roughly the same size as Pinklon. Maybe a few pounds heavier. But the same size.

The rest, Tyson takes care of just as easily as he did the fellows he did face during his best years.

So, long story short, Ali beats him prior to '74, but loses afterward. Frazier loses to Tyson thru the majority of the decade. Foreman is a toss-up.

Which means Tyson kind of is the dominant fighter. Or no worse than #3 during the first half. But Tyson would dominate at least half the decade (the latter half).

I'm not saying it's impossible for Ali to outpoint Tyson, but I see Tyson as favorite.
I reckon he counters Ali and if Ali somehow makes a mistake, Tyson can even KO him.

The landscape would look very different for 70's heavyweights with Tyson in that era. For sure.
If I have time, I'll try to add my thoughts later as to why.

I'd make Tyson a big favorite over everyone but Ali, Foreman and Frazier. Those are harder to predict.

Ali had a granite chin and incredible toughness and heart, Tyson isn’t Kayoing him dumbass.. and Ali would jab Tysons head off, if Holyfield could do it by just throwing a jab when Tyson dips down then I’m sure Ali could too

Stop looking at it with rose tinted fanboy glasses.
Ali was put on his arse with just 1 left hook by a cruiserweight in Cooper. If Cooper could do that, imagine what Tyson can do once he lands a combo.

Holyfield jabbed a past prime Tyson, not the 80s version, big difference.
And Holyfield's style was completely different from Ali's.
Tyson was trained since he was a kid to beat up Ali type boxers.

Frazier is very easy to predict. Tyson KO's him in just a few rounds.
Ali no longer had quite the same foot speed in the 70s, and without that he's dead meat against Tyson.
Foreman is the only one who stands a chance.

Why on earth would you take Andrew Golota over Ron Lyle?
