Would Joe Calzaghe have been better with diff trainer??

Yep, its always the fighter that makes the title, not the title that makes the fighter.

Not much room for debate with that...... I am a big JC... the only person to suffer in the end was Enzo Mac... he stayed around Camp Calzaghe far to long and hindered his own progress...:yep

 

Calzaghe was as good as he could possiby be, and I don't think it had too much to do with Enzo being his trainer either.

Calzaghe was just one of those freaks who could probably have trained himself and still done just as well.

 

really doesn't matter who calzaghe had as a trainer, the guy was so good and got away with things that others couldn't so pappa calzaghe might actually have been the best fit for him, as he got him in really good shape....that stamina was mostly born out of those tactics and methods, plus they understood eachother rather like ingle and naz although thats a more extreme case.

come on guys enzo was the right man for joe! unbeaten brilliant fighter and people want to knock eithier of them unbeleivable,joe has been the best fighter to ever box out of the UK.

 

The reason Calzaghe isn't considered, by some, to be an ATG has nothing to do with his trainer. Anyone can have a world class trainer, it's the opposition you beat that defines your status.

As for him being a better fighter, it's impossible to tell. Joe was brought along by his father from day one so, had he had a different trainer, he may have been indiscernible from the fighter we knew.

 

That is a popular misconception, but actually Joe was trained by somebody else back in the beginning, a guy by the name of Paul Williams.

I think Joe would have done whatever he did whoever was in his corner, but Enzo was right for him mentally and psychologically. Kind of like Joe's lucky mascot.

 

^ I do apologise. I remember reading that Enzo had read a few books about boxing training and had taken over from there. He's still been there from the very early stages of Joe's career though.

Pretty sure his Father was his trainer by the time his pro career got under way, and Joe is actually unbeaten as a pro and an amateur with his dad in his corner.
