LOL @ whoever said Floyd beats Taylor easily.

Gotta love these kids who only watch boxing for Floyd.

MVC biggest gay boy in history

How would Floyd do anything except get out worked?

He would lose to PAC in a PAC cotto style war

Would beat Floyd and most others

    Would be an atg

I'm in the habit of just putting a bunch of articles in threads regarding certain fighters just for those boxing historians (or simply put, nerds) like myself who enjoy reading them.

Here's one about Taylor leading up to the 1992 fight with Terry Norris.

    Buddy McGirt, Aaron Davis.

He was an excellent fighter for a short time period but I don't see how things would have been different even without Chavez, given the talent level at 147 and Taylor's own shortcomings. I've never heard anyone who said he would have been an ATG actually describe HOW things would have been different even if he never fought Chavez.

"He was in the worst condition I've ever seen of a fighter who was brought in conscious!"- One of the doctors that treated Taylor right after his fight with Chavez.

Taylor's orbital bone was broken, he swallowed several pints of his own blood. His kidneys were damaged.........

Whether he could have been an ATG if not for the Chavez fight depends on his dedication to his craft, but I would say the beating he took that night shortened his stay at the top.

He had potential that's for sure. Taylor took the risk and unfortunately he paid for it.

In all honesty, that fight would have been a 50/50 fight. Meldrick had the speed, the footwork and combination punching to cause Floyd fits. As a Floyd fan The one thing i've seen cause him more problems in a fight is fighting someone as quick and as strong as him. I wouldn't count Taylor out that's for sure.

Even if he never fought Chavez and stayed disciplined, he would have had to deal with a lot of talent at 147.

He probably fights at a higher level for a little longer, but eventually flames out.

He was never going to beat strong, powerful WWs like Tito and Quartey and I doubt he ever beats Espana either. Espana was a good fighter and just a terrible style matchup.

He had a tendency to be a little more brave than he had to be - staying in the pocket to finish off a 5-punch combination when he could've hit 3 and kept it moving. Eventually, that would have been his downfall.

He would have moved to 147 and eventually ran into someone like Tito and that would have been a disaster.

Taylor was tremendous for a short time but his style and mentality weren't built for the long-term.

I am as big of a Meldrick/philly guy as there is...but no! He didn't have the resume and since I don't believe Chavez destroyed him like the popular mantra espouses. I Don't believe he was damaged goods when he beat Davis in a brilliant performance or against Brown to a lesser degree. I think the not wise decision to step up in weight against Norris was a poor decision since Meldrick's biggest flaw was a lack of punching power combined with a inate desire to mix it up as if he did. Anyway that desire to mix it up and be recognized as a warrior was most likely always going to lead to a short prime, and likely to keep him from ever elevating into that elite status. But I still loving watching his old fights

Castillo gave him plenty of trouble without having Taylor's velocity. In fact, Castillo was robbed by the judges.
