Would Toney vs Hearns have the same pattern and result as Toney vs Nunn?

That may well be true and say what you will about Toney, but there's not denying that his chin is a good as they come. I honestly don't see Hearns wobbling Toney, which is why I'm leaning towards Toney to stop hearns before the 10th. Hearns in an incredible boxer but surely he can't resist trying to trade on the inside for 12 rounds against someone with such lack of foot movement

All I'll say is Nunn/Toney didn't even go like the commentators and rememberers seem to think it went. Yes, spell-check says "rememberers" isn't a word. But, hey, funk wasn't a word, once upon a time. And we all know how that went.

Everyone is living in la la land...Hearns wins....He was a master boxer and has much the better wins over all. I agree at Middleweight after Hagler, Hearns was vulnerable but I see Iran Barkley as a one off (OK two off!) with Hearns not making the same mistake of underestimating an opponent like Toney.

I just can't get over Toney huffing and puffing his way through tedious wins over Dave Tiberi and Glenn Wolfe. Also Hearns is a better fighter than McCallum (debatable but true I think) who gave Toney fits.

Style wise Toney has a chance but too often at Middleweight Toney was plodding and weightdrained. Against a quick thinking fighter he was completely nullified when faced with Roy Jones, when he had not weight issues as an excuse havign moved up to SM. People forget that Hearns could box and move when he had too as displayed for 14 rounds against Leonard and Benitez.

Christ if Montell Griffin could beat Toney (admittedly at Supermiddle) then Hearns would have a field day...

But by that logic if barkley could knock out and beat hearns on decision and Toney could brutalize and stop Barkley then Toney would have a field day, its just no way to judge a fight as it always goes both ways and you can use it as an argument for them both winning.

When Hearns lost, except for the first Barkley fight, it was due to the other guy being able to outmuscle him. Barkley was a very big, very strong super middle when they met the second time, and could outmuscle Hearns.
Hagler's chin withstood Hearn's right hand and Hagler went in for the kill, forcing the fight the whole time. Leonard only had success when he turned tiger and went right after Hearns.

I'm not convinced at all that Toney has the requisite qualties to do the same. Can he outmuscle Hearns? Maybe. Is it his style? No. He was a cute counterpuncher with decent power and he did have a good workrate, but still, the is Hearns we're talking about...not Reggie Hohnson or a faded McCallum.

If Toney wins, it's because Hearns does something stupid, not because Toney does something brilliant.

If Hearns boxes like he did against Benitez, I see him being too sharp and fast for Toney, Hearns UD12. The question is, are Hearns' legs the same at MW? I think the pre-Hagler Hearns would outbox Toney to a UD, the slower older Hearns of the late 80's would get stopped.

Either Toney by KO or Hearns by decision. Hearns can't win this one by KO, so if he's smart he uses his height, reach, footwork, and rapier-like jab, occasional combos, and good footwork and boxes cautiously and paces himself. If the pace is too fast and he mixes it with the rock solid Toney, he could be hittting the canvas after taking one of those well timed counter blows. On the inside, Toney eats him alive.

That is very true and it is certainly a tricky fight to pick but I just don't see Toney pulling it off..
