Mikkel Kessler, Carl Froch and Saul Alvarez. At their best, and pound for pound. I know two are retired, with one possibly having a lot of upside, and they do not share a weight class. This is not about achievement, just assessment of how high you think their ceilings have each gotten to. This is asking how good they were in their own time and place, far as you can tell.

Could you please do either rank them 1-3 or put them on 1, 2 or 3 tiers to show if you find them to be different leagues altogether, or just use letter grades. Thanks for anyone participating. The reason why I'm curious is probably not that hard to figure out, and I'll leave it at that.

I've got Kessler just a little better than Froch, and Froch and Alvarez being hard to separate, all three of them a B to B+ by letter grade.

All three of them are often times usually overrated or underrated for some reason. A lot of emotions and agendas get involved with these three guys for some reason.

    -Kessler
    -Froch
    -Alvarez

Although I personally feel Canelo will rise above the two of them in time and with retrospect... He already has become a lineal champion, something neither Kessler or Froch managed despite their longevity and opportunities. So that is something often conveniently ignored. Canelo very well could be a two division lineal champion in just a couple months.

    Froch
    Kessler
    Canelo (for now),

It's highly debatable that prime Kessler was better than prime Froch and he should have two losses to Froch. :deal

Kessler's high points included his run beating Beyer, Manny Siaca, Mundine, and Eric Luca. Would Froch have lost to any of them either?
Froch's wins during the same time period were all superior to Kesslers and two people in particular I don't think Kessler would've even beaten (Froch, Pascal). Plus the fact that when they finally matched up, Froch was on the wrong end of a bad decision, and the second matchup no conspiracy at all, and he effectively retired Mikkel. P4P or prime an there is a serious argument Froch is better. IKSAB.
