I see it the same way. Tarver is a reasonable choice for a fight in the States.

K2 cleaned the field. The challengers are scared shitless so better take a guy like Mormeck, Tarver or Chisora who are ready and will give it a go come fightnight.

Better than Mormeck? Debatable. But Haye and Povetkin would spark out Tarver, and probably Arreola too.

Right now Tarver is a bad option especially since Wlad is insisting on sticking to that mismatch with Mormeck. If Tarver were to actually beat a heavyweight or two of note than there would be atleast some interest but as it stands right now this is a pointless fight. Wlad could have a 2012 looking like Mormeck, Thompson, and Tarver-if that happened that would be a really sad run for a heavyweight champion, you might have to go all the way back to Jack Johnson and Joe Louis to find such a poor run of contenders by a heavyweight champion.

If Wlad wants to fight in the US again(and I'd like to see him do so) than Arreola is the obvious choice. Hell, I'd rather see an untested Mitchell who atleast has the power and style to pull the upset get a shot. I don't think Mithcell is at all ready but atleast he has the tools to cause an upset, Tarver doesn't. Tarver could possibly last the distance or even win a round or two if Wlad gets disinterested but he doesn't have the tools to beat Wlad.

I like Tarver and think he'd be a much better option than Mormeck. If Tarver moved up to heavyweight several years ago he may have made a nice run and landed a deserved title shot, but he's waited too late to make any kind of significant run at this point.

Only if he fights three times in the US next year. Tarver, Thompson (if anyone ever deserved a rematch its him) and Christobal.............then a big 2013

No, I don't. But, it would be a more "intriguing" fight from a European standpoint, with a better build-up and a lot more "buzz". As I noted, I think making either of these fights is a scrape of the bottom of the barrel. Huck is a slightly more interesting bottom-scraping.

None of them would spark out Tarver, and you have no reason to think so.

I think people are selling Tarver too short. Of course he should be like a Tyson/Douglas type underdog but the man has skills and can box. And he's not a midget next to Wlad, he's about 6'2". Tarver is good at sitting back and countering. Would be a boring fight but Tarver can pick his spots. I don't think he would be utterly destroyed.

I actually wouldn't mind seeing this fight.

Why not? Tarver has not proven anything at HW.

Tarver's going to put some slick black magic on Wlad and he ain't gonna be able to handle it.

Shoulder roll, huge counter - abracadabra - Wlad's crawling around the canvass on his hands and knees again.
