Would You Pay For A Canelo Vs Kirkland PPV?

casual fans dont care about boxing like we do,

they buy a 'product' or the 'brand' in this case mayweather or pacquiao

they bought pacquiao vs mosley/clottey/margo not knowing who the **** the other guys are because pac was fighting, they didn't know it would be a mismatch or whatever

canelo nor kirkland have made that name for themselves, casuals would see the adverts and think who gives a ****.


now do what arum (yes the devil grr grr!) did with de la hoya and put both fighters on HBO as many times as possible in good fights and you'll see a superstar.

if we start paying for match ups like this what next? ppv for eliminator matches too?

in the UK amir khan was on free terrestrial tv. he was hugely popular and got a big fan base, he then got too big for his boots and demanded he go on PPV, almost every one of his PPV's bombed and now he's back fighting on sky sports.

More people are HBO cable subscribers then would buy the PPV. We're talking 28 million vs. 200-300K possible buys.

It's too early for these guys to headline pay per views. But I think Canelo might be a PPV star in the near future, I envision myslef buying the Canelo vs. Chavez Jr. PPV.
