Hamed no doubt, in terms of pure talent 1 of the best we've ever seen

Hatton also avoided Witter for 10years, Mayweather for 3years, his father is on record saying they turned down 7offers, didnt step up class until 6years of his career. He also didn't want to fight Cotto earlier on

Hamed didn't avoid Morales/MAB/Marquez, all actually turned down offers. Morales also hadn't established himself as a name fighter until the end of Hamed's reign. Bungu was as proven or more proven than MAB/Morales at 122lbs. Hamed maybe have been steered clear of Espinosa earlier in his career.

The MAB fight would have happened earlier if Junior Jones hadn't derailed MAB. After Jones beat MAB, Hamed-Kelly and Jones-Mckinney were on the same bill, I assume if Jones won they would have matched him with Hamed. If you haven't seen Jones-Mkkinney watch it, it's as exciting as Hamed-Kelly, that would have been a hell of a card to watch. Mkinney said Hamed ducked him, but no way was Mkinney a stylistic threat and it was set to happen at 1 stage but fell apart. Mkinney would lose to Espinosa and previously lost to Bungu. Espinosa lost to Soto who Hamed beat.

2 fights that were talked about that would have been good were Hamed against Freitas and Gatti and Mayweather wanted Hamed at 128. Hamed was predicting that he'd KO MAB, Morales and Mayweather around 2001

Both since it's a multiple choice poll :p

Hamed of course, so many great fights if he was his mid 90's Prime, also some of the build ups to fights would be hilarious, he'd own pretty much anyone today he fought in a build up and then knock them out in the ring.

Simple put, a one off unique talent that we will not see the likes of again.

What was that talk at one time about Hamed avoiding Marguez or that they kept Hamed away from him? I did not follow these guy all that close in those years. Or was that fight ever under planning at all?

Hamed would be entertaining at any time, and there are some strong fighters in the lower classes today that could make good fights....assuming he was willing to step up and fight the best.

Hatton would own 140 again if he was back. Would like to see Hatton/Khan.

Hamed did avoid Marquez!Naz had great power and reflexes but I think he is being seriously over rated here.
I think both would struggle against the top guys of today but Hatton would make most fights competitive. As soon as Hamed stepped a level he was getting tagged very easily.

Hamed easily. He's one of my favourite fighters to watch and I never even got to see a fight live.

Ricky is a funny guy and had unreal support but I can't ****ing stand his style.

What's Khan got to do with this? :huh

Anyway, Hamed for me, clearly. Was the more talented and skilled fighter, coupled with a personality that would have had both casual and hardcore fans glued to his fights.

Revisionist posters who didn't follow the sport then accuse Hamed of ducking Marquez

Marquez was a contender who hadn't really fought anyone of note at this stage. Hamed offered him career high money around the time of the Bungu/Sanchez fights. Marquez turned it down and also lost to Norwood around this time

Hamed was truly a wunderkind, someone who could have achieved much more if he hadn't had the well meaning but interfering family as one poster said and if he had the discipline to stick with the training routines that Ingle had instilled in him. It was a real treat just to watch his entrances, as well as some of the more unorthodox moves he pulls in the ring.

Hatton had the same appeal but not the same talent unfortunately. He was the best at 140 however, until Pacquaio came along.

I mentioned Khan because when Hatton and Calzaghe retired he was ear marked as heir apparent for British Boxing, I'm not knocking him; you can put your sword of truth and justice away.
