But Peter is no longer seen as the brutal KO puncher he once was thought to be. And McCline has shown that his chin is not granite, as was once thought.


And Wlad is much better and more devastating, and has beaten in grand fashion, everyone he's faced recently.

So it can be argued that a rematch between Wlad and Peter is much less interesting than it was going into the first fight.

 

You know why the average sports fan don't care?

Because there is no single, unified champion for people to take interest in.

And that is what this fight is trying to correct. Agian, look a bit farther past the immediate future. Look at the long term benefit of this. That's all I can say, as we've been over this over and over again, and you apparently just aren't seeing past the nose on the end of your face.

It don't really matter, after he's won the titles in the ring. We know one fighter won't hold very many titles for very long, but that is meaningless regarding determining who is the champion. All he has to do is beat the titleholders, and that's all. Let them strip whatever they want, after that.

Wladimir is a fine Champion that any decent fan should appreciate. He doesn't do drugs, talk like some phoney gangsta or get charged with ****, assault, gun possesion, etc.

We need 1 true HW Champion and Wladimir will be the that guy.

Let's say Wlad does KO Iggy in spectacular fashion then he fights Chagaev and the WBO strips him of their belt. Who would really care? We would all know that he was "The Man" anyway, because the fighter makes the belt not the other way around.

The WBO could then make 2 undeserving Don King fighters fight for their worthless belt but only the fools would be fooled.

personally i'd prefer chagaev as i feel he would present more danger to my fighter, wlad.

but, beggars can't be choosers, so im happy with this fight. put it this way. would you rather see wlad fight a top 30 fighter who was magically boosted up the ranks for a mandatory shot?

and as far as politics go, having a second belt means he's the man, and the others will look silly if they claim they have more credibility to the throne then wladimir does. how will the fans like to see it settled? obviously the solo belt holder/s will be forced to fight 2-belt holder wladimir. in other words, the wlad-ibrag fight is not the most dangerous fight for wlad, but at least politically it will have started a chain reaction, and before you know it all the belts will be unified.

(well, not the wbc belt if vitali comes back. but everyone will just have to go along with the dream they have until vitali retires permanently after he achieves this dream. im sure vitali is under no illusions about fully regaining his career. this is just a shot to achieve their dream, then it's riding off into the sunset straight away. maybe after that wladimir will get the winner of the wbc belt in a couple years).
