Speaking of that fight, do you think that was a bad stoppage? Because it was very similar to this one.
The ref was the one that saw his eyes, not me.... but from the outside looking in i think it was a bit quick. This is boxing, it was the first round.... i think quill should have been given more benefit of the doubt.
You have no idea about boxing as a sport. It was a perfectly fine stoppage within the rules of the sport. If you have a problem with that you should be watching another sport. Maybe not a sport actually, you don't seem to enjoy rules. Maybe just watch street fight videos, unconscious people being punched sounds like something you'd enjoy. Dumbass.
:good That's all fans wanted to see and want-a legit stoppage. They didn't seem satisfied with the stoppage and they were right there.
I wouldn't call it a bad stoppage. I would call it a disappointing stoppage. After seeing it a few times, the ref stopped Jacobs from taking years off of Quillen's life. He was glassy eyed, and unsteady when the ref waved it off. Jacobs was swinging for the fences. Letting it continue with Quillen on unsteady legs and in a daze could have gotten Quillen seriously hurt. Why chance it to give petty fans a few kicks. Jacobs isn't feather fisted.
He deserved an 8 count to give him a chance to clear his head, but the ref still might have needed to call it off after that. Quillin looked hurt bad and eight or ten seconds later, he probably just would have been knocked out cold. 8 counts are still used, but I'm not sure if this fight was sanctioned by one of the organizations that utilizes it in their rule book. The different bodies have different rules, like some have the three knockdown rule and some don't.
This is boxing dun. Fighters DO get caught. You don't know whether Quillin would've recovered or not. All I know is that he was hurt but still on his feet.
Even without a standing 8 count, he deserved to fight on. The ref can stand near the fighters and if he get hit with clean punches again-fight over!
You just make yourself look more & more foolish every day. The referee is in there to make sure the fighter obey the rules PLUS he is in there to ensure the fighters safety. Quillin was out, he had no idea where he was. Had Harvey Dock not stopped that fight we could have been witnessing another tragedy in the ring Its time you kept quiet until you've learned a little about this great sport. You open you big mouth & insert your foot every time:good:good
a few years off his life hella dramatic lol man i gotta get off this forum i dont think theres a lotta real dudes on here
If you have as much respect and knowledge of the sport then you KNOW that there are many examples of fights in boxing history where the figher was hurt way worse then that and came back and emerged victorious. Quillin was hurt doubtless and he might have been KDed or KOed, but maybe not, all the ref accomplished was proving he was a panicking blithering ref unfit for a championship bout
