Damn, just got off work and missed this one. How did Prescott lose, decision or stoppage? Was it a good fight?
Prescott lost by split decision. It was a mildly entertaining fight for me, Vasquez showed some good boxing. Every fight on the card besides Rigondeaux's (ended in 1st round body shot KO) went to decision.
Decision. And it was an "okay" fight. Prescott looked horrible. Vazquez looked decent (but not jaw-dropping).
You're trying to say his resume looked good before Prescott loses? His resume was terrible anyway, fighting tomato cans or shot journeymen and being dropped in the process. Prescott was a minor step up and we saw what happened simply because the man had a good KO ratio, neither fighters got to apply ANY strategy in that one and it was over under a minute. Kotelnik is a decent step up from tomato can quality fighters. Barrera is definitely not tomato can quality even when he's 100 years old but whoever counts that circus show as a win is pathetic. The ****ing COMMENTATOR pointed out that this cut CAN'T be worked on as soon as he saw it and the doctor didn't even show up in the corner. If the Kotelnik fight is close any in way, Khan will get the decision. All Kotelnik can hope for is a KO otherwise he gets screwed off his championship belt. Just take a look at Kotelnik's KO ratio, expect similar guys with similar KO ratios for Khan for a good year or two.
Why is everyone slating the kid for, yea losing to Prescott was bad esp the way it happened. And yea Khan isn't that great prob might not even win tonight, but the stick he gets is incredible. For me he is entertaining his fights are worth watching, although not PPV material.
If Khan does win in tonight, he has the last laugh over all his detractors. Kotelnik is a far better boxer than Prescott and world class material. If Khan wins the fight, that would mean his defence, and ring intelligence would have improved significantly. The Khan that lost to Prescott would lose to Kotelnik. So if Khan does win tonight, it is quite clear that he would have improved dramatically under Roach.
Sure, Kotelnik is a better boxer than Prescott but if Khan manages to not get knocked out it's very probable he will get the decision no matter what. That's pretty obvious, isn't it? Kotelnik was already jobbed twice in England so what makes you think it will be different against one of the biggest and most undeserving hype job ever coming out of England?
"Made a mistake".....I thought that was Enzo's excuse for not having a chin, Khan should get his own.
Khan has the worst chin in boxing history, and that's why even incredibly light punchers - let alone those like Prescott who appear to have a moderate dig, albeit not world class power - will be able to stop him if they can land a stiff enough jab. See: Limond, Willie and Gomez, Michael. Don't get me wrong, I'd like to see him do well but his chin must have some sort of supernatural quality to be as wretched as it is. To call it glass is a gross understatement.
Speaking of Khan Prescott, just came across this ringside video on youtube. Very insightful commentary. [yt]BOTUFzvN4h0&feature=related[/yt]
