Lynes is on a different level to Ajose. Lynes is the Euro champ and looking to progress. Hatton and Witter would both ko Ajose before the halfway mark. Ajose was seriously rocked in the fourth last night and had to hold on badly. Ajose may well be a tidy boxer with a decent dig but nothing has noted him being above deomestic level. Pryce had lost 4 of 7 when Ajose beat him and Nuumbembe has recently been defeated by an ok fighter in Watson. He two best scalps are good but not indicators of world class, yoy have to look at the Reid and Wright fights and make a judgement for where he is in the game now and he has prob found his level. Ried and Wright are decent domestic journeymen who Ajose could not put away. As for England facing a foreign invasion from Ajose I find that very offensive as I judge Ajose as being British (commenwealth fighters are the same as British in my book).
Ajose will be far to much for Hatton. Hatton is a case study of mine and I know exactly what it takes for Hatton to be stopped. We would take it tomorrow and bet my houses on an Ajose win. If you thought Collazo gave him problems he will get a true nightmare and there will be no excuses that he was in against PBF. Stylistically Witter is more difficult however Witter will be facing a set of problems unlike he has never faced and overcome successfully. Ajose would put Witter in a box and you know what Witter knows it to.
Hatton lost because he was punching above his weight and Floyd Mayweather is the best boxer in the game. You can guarentee that Hatton will knock ajose out, he doesnt have the fundementals for the world stage nor the power. He has proven he can be out boxed by regular boxers like Nigel Wright. Calling out Ricky Hatton is a bit embarrassing after last night performance.
Hatton performance and behaviour pre and post the Mayweather fight is an embarassment. Nigel Wright did not outbox Ajose nor have 21 others he faced as a professional including top fighters from these shores as Holgate, Nuumbembee, Bradley Pryce etc. Hatton lost because he faced a better fighter and also because he started believing his own hype that he was far better than he was.
Im offended because Olu believes he's on a racial crusade by his remarks and I follow all boxers from the commenwealth no matter what race, creed or country. I supported Wright last night because he was a huge underdog the same way I'll support Arthur against Guzman. I've followed Eastman most of his career over my own English compatriots. I like the old commenwealth teams to do well in any sport such as athletics, cricket and rugby, it gives me a chance of supporting a team that may actualy win.
JC I refuse to talk to dWilson after he suggested that the African and Commonwealth title were lesser than the European title a belts worn with honour by the likes of Dick Tiger, the legendary Azumah Nelson and others. Colin Lynes heading for a world title shot is laughable. Lynes will get knocked out by any worldclass fighter he faces. I don't consider Lenny Daws and Malinga world class. If people think Lynes can beat Ajose can I ask what with. Ajose has beaten better fighters than Lynes such as Pryce, Holgate, Kpadenue, Nuumbembee etc. Lynes has been knocked out. The only Lynes could be a world champion might be against Gary Rees and that is a big maybe. I will talk to you however.
I have to disagree - Wright and Daws are not better fighters than Lynes for me. One only has to look at their recent form over their last 5 fights and the titles they hold - Lynes - 5 wins. Holds British & European Titles. Wright - 2 wins, 2 losses, 1 draw. Holds English Title. Daws - 3 wins, 1 loss, 1 draw. Holds Southern Area Title. As for Lynes being petrified - I can't really take that comment too seriously all things considered.
you dont like the sound of a Racial crusade, no? That is bassically what the British Empire was. Although it sounds nice of you to support the commonwealth sports teams, Africans, Australian, Canadians, New Zealanders, Fijians and so on are definately not British...
I have seen Daws and Wright fight a couple of good competitive contests against each other. I have seen Daws dominate Lynes and make him quit. I saw him fight like a girl against Junior Witter and stopped by Malinga. Who exactly has he fought of Ajose class or beaten to make me think he was a danger. I remember him pulling out of contests twice against Ajose. We don't pull out of contest whether we are injured or due to lack of notice. Hell we are ready to step in for the WBC title if Demetrius Hopkins pulls out against Witter. I don't care what titles Lynes holds. All I would say when he is in with genuine talent we see what happens. Face facts brother Daws made Lynes quit. I don't respect quitters. Winners never quit and quitters never win. Things were not going well for Ajose at the start but what did he do? He did not stop fighting and quit he upped the tempo made it more physical mixed to the head and body and discouraged Wright. Now that is the act of a champion. Yes he was not as silky smooth as usual but he showed if required he can win ugly. This is no 1 trick pony.
I also beleive the European title is a more significant title than anything in Africa or the commonwealth, I beleive this because ti is true, the talent pool in which the EBU champion reigns is far deeper, the european title also gives you a higher World ranking. The Commonwealth titles significance is not what it was, it used to be on the same level as a British championship but even now I dont think this is the case. The challengers for the commonwealth belt we have seen have been varied to say the least, we have had some bright spots like Steve Molitor, but we have also had a lot of fighters from Africa who have no right be fighting for any kind of championship.
Not everything is black and white, he could have got beaten thjat night for many reasons, infact if a rematch happned imo there is only one winner and that is Colin. A loss doesnt defy a boxer it is what they achieve, Lynes has gone onto to win the British and EBU title beating some very good fighters comfortably. A few more defences of the Euro title againsy Mbaye and Branco and a world title shot should fall into his lap.
I do not differentiate between England, Scotland, Britain, Commenwealth, Canadianian, Falklander or any other country the same way I do not care what colour a fighter is. Witter is as British as Hatton and Ajose holds the same respect as both the same way I support the European heaveyweights and American fighters. I will take an interest in fighters from areas because I have knowledge of where they come from. I support fighters on a personal level not goegraphical and I do take offense to Olu's remark even if no intent of offense was behind it. People should think before speaking or writing. Pryce was there for the picking when Ajose beat him, the same way others were at the time and to judge Pryce as being more than a decent domestic fighter is a joke, he's good but no world beater. Nuumbembe came up short against an ok Craig Watson. Holgate had suffered losses before Ajose beat him and had not had many fights. Wright is a decent domestic fighter while Reid is a domestic journeyman. Ajose may make a world class fighter one day but on recent viewings he is just an ok fighter. Lynes vs Ajose would be a good fight and I would have swayed towards Ajose before lasts nights fight but now like most other people I can see Lynes winning clearly.
Well, I have to say I can't see what all the fuss is about. Olusegun took the bout by a couple of rounds on my card, but didn't look particularly sharp or crisp and I'm not impressed with his power. I had Olusegun winning by a couple of rounds, mainly due to Wright after a strong start, but can't see him making waves with the top guys. Wright is a domestic level fighter and he struggled. Fair enough, I am sure he will be working on his game and there are still things he can improve. However, at, what, 28 I doubt he's going to get too much better. I think he can have a good career at Commonwealth sort of level, but the top guys are out of reach, relatively shallow though the 140lb division may be.
