Whether you like them or just hate them promoters are always thinking way ahead of anyone else in the boxing game and they have always got an angle on whats next, even if its a rumour or bs or planned someones done it for some reason.............
There's being offered a fight & then there's being offered a fight! I highly doubt nay formal offer was made to the Khan camp in respect of facing Manny! If there was a formal or even serious discussions, whoever offered it to the Khan's shoudl be fcuking put in stocks! Khan is improving, but he's not ready for a guy like Pacquaio & I'm not sure he will EVER be ready for such an opponent! Pacquiao would hurt Khan. Amir's skills are improving, but the question marks still remain about his durability, even at LWW!
I should say Arum is a fool for trying to make that fight but it would be the lineal champ fighting a genuine titlist in his next fight so I can't fault it really.
This is why todays world champions are not all actually world champions in a true sense of the word. Once you are world champ you should face the toughest opponents possible (unless you do not believe in your own ability) but anyone who thinks they "are not ready" shouldnt try and pass themselves off as champ. The title these days is nothing more than just that.....a title.
Yeah, the IBO is much better. Actually, why not add credence to the IBA, WBF and WBU as well while we're at it? Explain why you think it means 'nothing' then, Achilles. Is it due to the fact that you can't be stripped; do not have to face sub-standard opposition as mandos; or have to actually beat the legitimate champion/ have to be a top 2 contender and face another top 2 contender (3 in special circumstances) if the title is vacant? :blood Don't be daft, Darni.
The Ring is another bull**** title, the only difference between that and the IBO is that they don't charge sanctioning fees. Had Ring Magazine actually awarded the titles to the genuine Linear claimant at the time they were introduced, they would have had a starting point. From there, they should have looked into the possibility of amalgamating the alphabets one by one and introducing mandatory contenders and genuine rankings systems taking into account regional titles and H2H results. For example, the IBF (and WBO I think) have Kiko Martinez ranked above Munroe - and also Anthony Small above Moore - why exactly?
