This is good chance for organizers of MMA to show it's a legitimate sport and organization. Burn the lot of them, make them matyrs...even better. But this is not acceptable.
Exactly...I doubt a little scuffle inside the cage after a fight is going shut down a major company. If that were the case Boxing should be dead and buried. The Galota v Bowe incident should of been the final nail let alone Tysons future antics. Controversy creates CA$H:deal..
Boom. Magarito is just off a suspension for having loaded gloves. Mike Tyson bit Holyfields ear. PBF's camp and Judah's going at it in the ring etc etc. Controversey sells. One ***** ass scuffle with Shields camp jumping one guy in the cage if anything is going to make them look like a bunch of punks in the MMA community. Melendez and those ***** Diaz brothers were way out of line as was the entirity of his camp. Iv said before them Diaz brothers are a bunch of pricks now the world got to see it on national TV.
It's a little more complicated than that. Strikeforce survived so many years by staying as a small company. Recently with their acquisitions and events... they have really overextended themselves. All of this depending on their contract with CBS. CBS doesn't have pro wrestling on it (directed towards the other poster)... nor does it have any other combat sport. This is because they are generally a family oriented station. Considering the crowd booing for a majority of the fights.... the slow action... running up against HBO boxing... their big acquisition Dan Henderson's very lackluster performance and loss (against a fighter who may be going to the UFC), along with Mousasi who also was just signed to a big, long contract. Strikeforce isn't looking so hot right now. I am not saying that CBS is going to actually drop them right away. However, it is already not looking good. As far as the brawl, it would have been one thing if it would have just been a pushing and shouting match. It's an entirely different animal when you have all of the viewers watching a man be jumped in the ring, total chaos, other professional MMA fighters involved... one of their stars being booted while on the ground. It looks HORRIBLE for MMA. What an awful representation of the sport.
This **** used to go on in PRIDE all the time. Your boy Coleman was famous for it. Now tighten that sphincter and RELAX! Its not half as bad as you're making out. Matter of fact the "mayhem" (no pun intended) probably done them some good.
If you noticed... boxing isn't on CBS. Neither is professional wrestling. Besides that, Strikeforce is an organization... quit different than the entire sport of boxing. Boxing used to be on Network tv... it isn't anymore. Strikeforce just did it's best to try and ensure that MMA moves backwards and doesn't survive on major network TV either.
I hope so, I really do. I like strikeforce, and I think that competition between the orgs is good for MMA.
My mate told me about this today and I was just like typical Mayhem what a dude Didn't realise that it was actually the Shields camp acting like a bunch of ***gots though
Yeah that was a classic. Donald took those shots like a champ.Bowe is bat**** crazy. How funny is the reporter.''Woh this fights a promoters dream''.lol.
You don't see boxing on CBS or any other major Network TV station (ABC, NBC) do you? I don't know why people keep on comparing Boxing to Strikeforce. Nobody said that this was possibly the end of MMA. Boxing is a sport, not an organization. Strikeforce is relying on it's contract with CBS, ect... to carry the weight of all of their recent acquisitions.
Im Australian.. Those stations you mentioned are major AMERICAN tv stations. So i wouldnt have a clue what is shown on those stations.
Actually when they interviewed Jake AFTER all of this outside the cage they replayed the start of the rumble and it was Shields himself who started it, then Gilbert jumped in then everyone else jumped in. How many times do you see guys get in the ring/cage and challenge someone, GSP ain't impressed and Lesnar seems to be in the ring after EVERYBODY's fights. This happens all the time in the UFC and nothing like this ever happens. Ceasar Gracie students are emotional children. If I was a Gracie and you where tarnishing my Gracie name i would kick you out of my gym for good. Of course the Gracie's are punks too so they probably loved it. It pains me to say this but the UFC just went up 3 pegs in my book because of this. When will these orgs get tough on the Diaz's and their cronies like Dana seems to have?
Nick must have forgot about the time he jumped into the cage and challenged K.J. Noons Obviously he thinks he is entitled to do it but no-one else can.
I'm not a Miller fan but he challenged the guy to a rematch and supposed nice guys like Shields and Melendez gang banged him. MMA in general needs to get much stricter with how many guys enter the cage.
