Other guys on this board could tell you better, GP. But I'd bet that confidence comes with repetition. Once you've done it for a longer while then you'll know you can do it.
i know i can do it i just dont seem tobe able to do it in the ring. But i am improving i reckon my next fight - thats in my hometown - should do it for me. thing is im kinda shy guy - like if i dont know you, but i can talk in front of a group of people and all that but boxing is different im scared i make a mistake as im a perfectionist some poeple say im obseesive
I know the feeling GP, I have that kind of personality, too. Not shy really, but I'm "guilty" of perfectionism and obsessiveness, myself. But look at it this way, once you find your stride, you'll be a lot better off than self-satisfied guys. I'd think a ton of sparring would do you good, take the mystery and the fear out of it for you.
yeh oncei hit the zone im good everything clicks. Chinx all i do is spar drives the trainers nuts me asking to spar all the time. i did 30 mins non stop last week and 20 mins non stop this week albeit some was against lesser opponents but i was orking hard
The defensive geniuses are my favorites...I'd like to see a well made vid about the contrasting defensive styles of guys like Harold Johnson, Nicolino Locche, Wilfred Benitez, Willie Pep, Sweetpea, etc., ..y'know, like there's sooo many "Greatest Ko's" compilations, I'd sure be grateful for a vid on the subtleties of the finer art of defensive boxing...it can be done. It should also include guys who's styles were not always appreciated by the "casual" (read: unsophisticated) fan, like Sammy Angott, Joey Archer, Willie Pastrano, Joey Giardello, and so many other guys who "toiled in obscurity" in the lighter weight divisions. Like I said, it can be done.
Absolutely.(great calls)..and I've left out so many more, like that great technician (he was called that alot) Emile Griffith and Tommy Loughran, etc.,
I agree, I'd like to see a clip like that, myself. I guess for a lot of as you say, casual fans, the big punchers are more exciting to watch.
