The first boxer I got into was Floyd Patterson, I just loved his style.
Then later Ali came along and I was just blew away!
I was 12-13 year old and started training and sparring at a well known local club and absolutely loved it.
I was down to have my first bout at an exhibition at a local working men’s club, had my kit bag packed and was about to leave the house on the night when my Mother said “No sorry, you’re not going, I’m not having my boys handsome face (no she wasn’t blind!) beat up and battered”
You didn’t argue with my old lady, that was my budding boxing career nipped in the bud!!
One of my big regrets, but I love the fight game.
My knowledge both historically and technically is no where near most on here, but I love reading this board and have learned so much.

That guy was fun to watch - He had good power, swung for the fences, and had little defense and a weak chin. EXCITEMENT.

Nice guy too. He seemed impressed that I'd known about the Anthony Witherspoon and Czyz fights. He was a real gym rat.
